Hi ladies, I'd like your opinion please! I'm saving hard (and selling off things I don't use!) for a love bracelet. I'm not quite there yet but when I get there, unless there is another price increase in the uk in the meantime I have the option of either the white gold cuff directly from Cartier or a preowned full bangle from a reputable reseller with a shop on Bond Street London.
I like the idea of buying directly from a Cartier boutique, having the experience, box and paperwork but that would mean the cuff is top of my budget.
Alternatively for the same price I could buy a preowned full bangle with no Cartier box or paperwork just the certification and box from the jeweller I would be buying it from.
Now on the cuff side I like that I can remove it easily and that I will own it from new (I tend to keep items bought new more often than preowned somehow, they weirdly feel more mine!).
The full bracelet I like because it is kept on 24/7 but does anyone do that with the cuff? As that is what I would like to do ideally. In fact it was wearing my baby trinity on cord that made me really get the bug to begin with... I leave it on all the time as it is too much of a faff getting it on and off!
What would you do?

Hi I know the shop you mean on Bond St,
Without papers or box I really wouldn't buy it as there is no way of knowing for definite that it is authentic & the certificate from the jeweller doesn't really mean much. If you ever want to sell it in the future then due to no Cartier authentication it will decrease in value. Plus the jeweller would have cleaned it themselves which I would be nervous of.
I was the same as you, I got the baby trinity and then just needed the bangle lol, I got the bangle just after the price increase ... But I love it and every future scratch is a part of my life not some one else's. The cuff was not for me there is a thread on here about cuff v bangle which gives some insight . Just my thoughts why not wait until you can buy the bangle brand new if that's what you really want even if it's a couple of years wait. Plus being a worrier myself the concerns about authenticity would occupy my mind so much that it would take the enjoyment away .. But that's just me:blush:  X

Hi, thank you for your reply and advice :) I think I will take your advice and buy new. It will feel more special for such a large purchase and I would really like box and papers. I'm pretty sure it will be the cuff though, I tried it on in Paris a couple of weeks ago and I really loved it. I have also read every thread I can find on here regarding it! Weirdly it is partly to do with the fact it is in one piece as I know I will worry about loose screws, stripping threads etc and I know there will be occasions I want to take it off! I would also have a hard time justifying spending the money on a full bangle new for myself. That's not to say I think other people shouldn't! Just that it would be far more expensive than anything else I have ever bought and I am more comfortable spending the cuff price on a single item even with a couple of years saving. (Not to mention the fact that I have no patience whatsoever ). Then again I remember about 10 years ago having sleepless nights that I'd spent a whopping £1200 on a Gucci Indy bag, last year I bought a Chanel boy and now £1200 feels very reasonable... Yikes! Xx

This is a big purchase. Definitely wait to get what you truly want. No one likes to live with regret. As for the extra $ to purchase new, the sting will fade with time. [emoji6]

So true! The trouble is I'm not convinced I really want the full bangle over the cuff, more that a preowned bangle at a cuff price feels like a better deal I guess. I agree 100% about waiting to get what you truly want, I've bought several bags not being able to justify the price of something I truly wanted and then ended up selling them again and getting what made my heart sing in the first place! I've tried on the bangle and I just felt I didn't love it enough to spend that much at the time. I think the only reason it appeals to me over the cuff is that it is a round the clock piece like my trinity on cord, which obviously I can take off I just don't because it involves hassle (and teeth!!). I'm not sure a new bangle would be worth the extra when I love the cuff and could leave it on anyway couldn't i?
When I get a chance I will go in to London and try on both at the boutique just to make sure.

The way I look at it is with Cartier you always will get your money back if you sell it after a couple of years .. So I always tell myself it's an investment .....
I wouldn't bother with Tiffany though as that seems to depreciate quite a bit ....

Good luck with your choice & see which one chooses you :graucho:... XX

Sounds like a good plan. Try on both, repeatedly if needed. But try not to torture yourself too much. This should be a joyful purchase.

Hi Tonimichelle, I would definitely try on both like you have mentioned. Are you planning on wearing it with your bzero?

Hi Canturi lover! I love my b zero so it depends on whether it works with it and if the Bvlgari slides over the cuff (if that's what I get) or not. I suspect the bangle would stack better but I really don't want to spend that much! (on a new one).I'm also not sure if I'll want to wear both at the same time anyway. So I may swap them about or not depending on if they stack ok and how much jewellery I feel comfortable with. If I go with the cuff it will be easy to change them over

Why i see the cuff as a beter option.

Durability. Things with screws will need a service the cuff doesnt need service because its one part

For me this is the head of the pro's

Gold screws is not made to be unscrewed

2 the cuff is when you are in a bad neighbourhood in a few seconds loose so you can put it out of sight. In your bag or in your pants.

For you it is a new piece from the store. And is it worth to save a lot of money extra. For the same experience. A love piece

Maybe save that money for a love ring

Thank you. I must admit the one piece of the cuff is something that appeals to me. My other hobby (aside from the bag/ jewellery obsession!) is motorcycles and vintage scooters and I'm quite good at stripping a two stroke engine and know how easy it is to snap/ strip/ cross thread a screw made of steel never mind gold
