No wonder they started that new forum:

You betcha! They describe their new fee structure right after bragging about how their Authenticating Service, is going to gather so many buyers for Ebay luxury handbag sellers.

I'll believe it when I see it. I've been sending my items to FP or Yoogi's or AFF or Rebag lately. It's just so much easier. I do have one bag currently listed on Ebay that is eligible for their authenticating service so it'll be an interesting experiment to see if I do get more interest and offers as a result. On the other hand, I'm also tempted to just take the buy out offer I received from FP for it and be done. I always pack my items carefully and I dislike the idea of Ebay opening it up, handling the bag, then re-packing it.

Yep. Just went through this delightful process. Packaged my bag fully stuffed and padded in a large sturdy box, suitable for storage. I always package any bag I sell inside its freshly laundered and ironed dustbag, with a note placed on top. I sent it USPS, 2 day shipping, fully insured, in its large 3.2lb box, last Monday to my buyer in my same state. The bag was diverted out of state, repackaged in a 2lb box, forwarded by FedEx, and is finally, we hope, out for delivery over a week after I shipped it.

Have no idea if these authenticators are competent.

Poshmark also authenticates handbags over $500 but, of course, their fees are higher at 20%. Ebay would probably love to charge 20%, or close to that amount, and is probably going to work towards that for items under $2,000.

If I read the fee schedule correctly, bags over $2,000 will be charged a final value fee of only 9%. It really penalizes sales of bags from $1,200 - $1,999 if I am understanding this correctly. A $1,200 sale at 15% will be charged $180 in final value fees which is the same as a $2,000 sale at 9%. That seems wrong.

seems quite complicated, so how much would be total with all the ebay fee and paypal fee? Can someone good at math find out? I'm dizzy with all the numbers

Sellers no longer use Paypal as basically every seller is now using Ebay's Managed Payment system (or will be using it very soon). Under their Managed Payment system, Ebay immediately deducts their final value fees from sales proceeds and then transfers the money to a seller's bank account a few days later. They've cut out Paypal. (Buyers can still use PayPal to buy items of course.) So, for sellers, sales proceeds are no longer immediately deposited to Paypal and final value fees billed at month end. Ebay increased their fees in various categories to supposedly be slightly under what sellers were previously paying to both Ebay and Paypal combined.

Under E-bay's current Managed Payment system, handbags up to $7,500 are charged final value fees of 12.55% + .30 per item and 2.35% of the amount over $7,500. On September 30th, final value fees on bags up to $2,000 will go up to 15% + .30 per item. For bags over $2,000, it will be 9% + .30 per item. Plus, of course, items over $500 will be eligible for their Authenticity Guarantee so bags will be shipped to Ebay to be checked over and then sent on to the buyer. This service is "free" but, of course, is being paid for with the increase in fees.

I see, thank you so much for your detailed information, I never known that, you are such an expert and clear minded!

I'm reading it as ANY bag less than $2k is going to be charged 15% FVF. That would include even a $30 wristlet!
