I like the east-west version of the grey tote, but it is hard to swallow the price tag for this bag. It’s cute, but not sure $4200 worth of cute. I am still debating it. The east-west tote only comes in the green, black and grey. I have so many black totes, so leaning towards the gray and it does look good on me. tbc…

I get the feeling they're trying to make customers think that they're in the same league as Hermès. It's not been that many years where I've bought Hermès bags new in the boutiques for this price point. My last Hermès boutique purchase was the Gao and it was around that price point. Hermès or Prada, let's see. Yes, no brainer.
Visited the boutique ready to pull the trigger, but was underwhelmed by the grey so I passed. I may revisit if they launch new colors. The price is ridiculous though. The tote should be $3k tops!
I just bought the horizontal tote in black. It's overpriced but I don't pay for 'value', just design that works for me. IMO there is no good proposition in the tote market - either there is too much logo, material is wrong (plastic, canvas) or/and there is a design flaw (only handheld or too small for my frame etc.). This one seems really nice with a small logo that anyway can be turned inwards.

I suppose you can also detax, VAT is 21% where I bought it (in Netherlands).
It has leather lining, I am positively surprised.
The totes remind me of the ones Balenciaga (called Bazaar tote?) had a few years ago.

I think it’s a bit different than the Bazaar bag though I didn’t own one so not sure. It’s nice and spacious.
I’ve got an old style one I purchased many years ago. Always thought the crinkles were quite interesting. Yikes I see similar bag to mine is now $4,500. Insane

So I recruited a friend to purchase in Paris. The bag is 3k Euro, which is likely 2.6k Euro after Vat and the fx will probably bring it to a little under 3k usd. $1.2k cheaper, which Ill gladly accept. I want the medium alabaster pink tote.
Small world! Not hard to understand why I grouse so much about Prada these days when you look at posts like this. I honestly don't remember the bag, though. I was a shopping machine back then. Do you still have it? Can you post a photo?
