Your assumption is correct. For some of them I used my screwback backings from another pair of earrings just to keep them on. But it didn't work well so that's unfortunately not a good solution. In fact, in that ear shot that would be the screwback backing poking down on the bottom. I couldn't get it on beyond like the very tippy tip of the stud post.
I did do a little looking online, and it looks like a minimum $100 to get just the backings. My husband is furious, and hopes that Kwiat can send me some backings that are Plat. If not, we're returning them. The fact that a brand like this would not use full platinum is kind of damaging to the brand in both of our minds. I paid for Platinum, on sale or not, so I expect platinum all around.
I just spoke with a nice lady at the Kwiat on Madison Ave and she told me that they CAN do plat backings by special order. I just need to contact a Nordstrom with Fine Jewelry, and they can do it. She said she was not sure about pricing though because the boutiques sell these items at different prices than Nordstrom.
She was very lovely to speak with and was very willing to assist me. I hope I can get this taken care of. Ill pay the $100 if they are from Kwiat, but I don't want some non-branded earring backs.

I hope Nordstrom can work it out. I really am pleased with them. I halfassed the H&A viewer with them and got nice return, and I louped them, and see just a little bit in one, the other I think has one near the outer edge. But without a loupe I can see nothing. Which I am happy about. I need to reloupe and all that tonight maybe if the weather is ok I can actually go outside and do it.
They look lovely. Now i just need to sell my huggie hoop things that I never wear anyway. Or scrap them or something.
