New 2024 Le City - What do we think?

Just received these photos in from the Madison store in NYC. What do we think? I am too much of an oldie's fan and particular about the leathers, so don't think I'm interested. But curious to know if anyone will be picking up one of these new bags.

Some differences I see, the threading on the handles look to be leather, no longer a cord. No photos of the strap though.

Will this drive up the price of vintage bags even more or bring it down? Guess time will tell.

Is it selfish to say hope these drive down OG resale prices until some of us finish our collections...?

... and then drive it back up once people who bought these come to their senses?

In all honesty though, I could (unfortunately) see it driving up demand.

Ex: Phoebe Philo's Chloé-era original bracelet/metal bags are now all selling on the resale market after sitting there for quite a while...

The strap seems longer like the versions post 2015ish? Jury is still out on the weight distributor. It's MIA on the website, but the whipstitch ones are shown in the ad campaigns.

I agree, the leathers leave a lot to be desired. Especially on that metallic, compared to the 04-05 oldies and even the new Le Cagole metallics, it just looks sad.

There was another thread discussing this, @Addy can you merge them?

They look as if the older one was painted, I am not interested at all. Lower level of the oldies leather and overall impression. If I saw one of these on ebay, I would suspect that the seller painted the original bag. I even prefer seriously faded oldies.

I am afraid that these seriously creeping up prices will soar even higher with this

Last year, Marc Jacobs re-released his quilted stam after being out of production for years
The resale price of the stam before that had bottomed out. After the re-release, they went up slightly, but not very much where they seemed to have held. Its possible the increase in resale price had more to do with a shift in the economic markets than the re-release (altho it could have been resalers hoping buyers would be confused & think the old quilted stams were the new ones). We have all noticed an increase in the resale prices of Bbags and that was BEFORE this reboot, so it’ll be interesting to see if there’s little or no change or the prices go up yet again.

I think they’re going to stay where they are right now. They might actually decrease if resale sales drop off
