Need opinions please- I’m being offered a Panthere watch for a very low price but I’m not sure if I should go for it

Hi everyone!

I’m very much new to Cartier, I have a gold classic love that I bought myself for my bday a few months ago but that’s it.

I’ve never owned a watch in my life, but I’ve been eyeing some of the Cartier watches that are around $3500-6000. Mainly the ballon (small steel one and the MOP face one even though it’s the most expensive on my list at $6200) and then Tank and Ronde because they’re price friendly-ish.

I don’t think I’d want to pay close to what another love bracelet costs, because I would just get myself a small love with diamonds. I have to save quite a while for pieces.

Well my SO’s family heard I was looking and they own a small luxury pawn shop. They just got a small older two tone Panthere in and as a favor to me, are offering it for what they were paid for it which is $1500 no tax.
I didn’t bother looking at two tones before, because of the price jump when gold is involved.
The watch has some scratches but works and is 100% authenticated.

I asked a couple of my friends, but they’re not interested in luxury jewelry so they couldn’t really give me an opinion. I have until tomorrow to decide since a regular at the shop is interested in it otherwise.

I’ve tried looking on the website and it looks like this steel/matte version is no longer available? I am not sure what to do. I don’t trust my opinion yet because I don’t really know what to look for in a watch.
My wrist is tiny, I wear a 16 love if that helps. Also, I know so little about watches that in the photo it’s on upside down

Sounds like a good deal if it comes with certs n all the paperwork. Do you like 2 tones? Does it match with your other jewellery or style? The watch face looks too big for your wrist but if you like it then I don't see why not. Are you able to take the watch to a Cartier boutique to have it inspected the condition of the watch before you pay for it? I think you shouldn't feel rush when buying especially if its a investment item Goodluck!

I’d have to pay for it before I can take it out of the shop and to Cartier. But it’s my SO’s family that runs the shop so if something crazy we’re to come up at Cartier we wouldn’t be stuck.
Sadly it doesn’t come with original certificates.

The only other jewelry I own is a yellow gold classic love.

This is a small so I’m not sure how much smaller I can go/get sadly unless I go with the mini on the website.

I find the size too in your face on your wrist (unless that’s what you like!). Don’t be pressured to buy just because it’s there. Perhaps you can take your time until you kinda figure out what you like.

Would the only other size be a mini? I’ve read that some people say it’s very hard to read.
I’m assuming that that’s the only size smaller in any collection since the panthere is small-ish compared to others?

Next down is the small. Most ladies here go for small. I don’t find it hard to read but I can understand mini will absolutely be.

I know this is of no help but I actually think the ballon would look better on your hand. Just a hunch!

Then you must have tiniest wrist!
It looks like medium to me. I could be wrong?!

This is small on me.

that’s what I was worried about too! But I asked and they assured me it’s the small. I do have very small hands/wrists, most women can wrap their thumb/pointer around my wrist with room to spare.

The only reason I got a 16 love was because I like it more bangle-like but I can fully spin it on my wrist if I tried

Medium dimensions: 27 mm x 37 mm
Small dimensions: 23 mm x 30 mm

I have small wrist too which is likely same like yours (I wear love15 snug fit and also can rotate the bracelet if I try). I don’t know why your small looks different from the small I tried at store. Could be just the photo angle.

Weird! Maybe I’ll have to go and measure it myself. If it’s a small I might be limited to the steel mini in store.
