Should I sell my Chanel Medium Classic Flap in GHW Caviar for the Cartier Love Bracelet?

Hi everyone!

I've been really wanting the Cartier Love Bracelet for the longest time. I was thinking of selling my Chanel Medium Classic Flap in GHW Caviar, because I never really used it. It's actually in like new condition because I never reach for it. Also to be a bit vulnerable here, my ex fiancé of 8 years and I purchased it together so there is a bit of memory to it. I kind of want to let it go but don't for that reason lol (if that makes any sense).

I was thinking it can be meaningful because I lost myself in that relationship and didn't love myself. This would be meaningful for me as I have learned to love myself and its a love bracelet to myself overcoming the tough and dark times. Btw, there is no option for me to just purchase the Cartier bracelet and keep the bag as I can't justify spending money like that anymore, personally.

I'm indecisive so I need all the help I can get! I'm very much a jewelry person but I know the Chanel classic bag keeps going up.

It’s a lovely story and it’s always a comforting feeling knowing someone discovered some “enlightenment” in their lives. It warrants a piece of jewelry to celebrate this mark!

You can’t wear a bag 24/7. But you can with jewelry (or at least half the day if you can’t stand sleeping within one). Everyday you can get to see the beautiful piece on you. And it will serve as a great reminder what you have achieved (emotionally/spiritually).

I’ve sold many many bags but bought many jewelry (to me). Chanel has gone crazy; I don’t even think much about CF anymore (in the end I just keep that few pieces that I really use). But if I have to choose one, hands down jewelry over bag. And tbh I don’t care about the prices-are-always-going up. Enjoy what you desire now.

Congratulations on finding and loving yourself again! I can't even imagine the emotional journey you want on. I think my initial thought is to sell the bag to fund the bracelet but I think it also depends how much you can get for it. Assuming you get a decent offer on the bag I think the love bracelet will be wore more often and serves as a nice reminder to always love yourself. Best of luck and sending lots of love your way 💖

Thank you for your kind response! Yes, very true. Also, I think bags are just made out of leather or fabric. Whereas jewelry is gold and has more value and like you said its more meaningful and a reminder.

Same!! I always sold bags or other designer things for jewelry. I never felt anything for them. Jewelry can be passed down from generation to generation and be loved. Thank you so much for your input! I really am grateful for it! 🫶🏽❤️

Hi! Honestly, I would choose jewellery over any bag. To my opinion, gold has more value than bags and it will last a lifetime. Sorry to hear about what happened to you. Take this as an opportunity to close this chapter and have a new one! A fresh start. Hi lovely, I'm sorry to hear that your Chanel CF serves solely as a reminder of your past relationship. We all have been there! Loving and losing is a part of life but how we move forward is what defines us.
To me, your thought process of simply considering to part ways with it signals maturity and bravery.
There is little point of keeping things that don't serve a purpose, even less when it's reminder of having lost yourself on the way.
A love bangle will be a forever piece. It's solid gold. You can get so much more wear out of it and when you see it shining on your wrist, it'll always bring a smile on your face. You will also feel a sense of triumph to have overcome an obstacle in life.
It's a great idea and I'm all for it. 💕

I 100% resonate with struggling to keep up with the prices of luxury goods. Sadly, people working in regular jobs, do not get salary increases as frequently as price hikes of luxury goods! It's becoming impossible to keep up with. What works in your advantage here is that you are looking to sell a piece that is sought after and has increased in price since your purchase (I would hope so!). And you say it's in excellent, unused condition, so that's golden!
You could wait and sell it a tad later in future, but cartier prices are bound to increase soon. So if you are to 'sell to fund', now is a good time!
