Hello fellow lux lovers! It's been a while since I've been active on tPF. I've been quietly lurking and enjoying the eye candy in various forums. It's been a busy year with some challenges but so many blessings. Moving, getting a promotion, caring for an aging parent, and adopting have left little time for much else. Now that things have settled down a bit, I would love to solicit some advice from you all. I am still very new to Hermes. I've shopped in a boutique maybe 6 or 7 times, mainly purchasing fine jewelry. I have my eye on some boots and a piece of RTW that I'll work with my SA on the next time I'm in the boutique. So far, I've added 4 H bags to my collection (2 purchased in a boutique and 2 I randomly lucked out purchasing online). I eventually want either a Kelly 28 or a Birkin 30. I'm patient, so there is no rush on my end. It could be next year or 3 years from now, and that's fine. I have plenty of handbags in my collections from various houses to keep me entertained and happy. I'm just trying to plan a few color options to let my SA know. H has so many beautiful colors, and I was able to look at the color samples the last time I was in the boutique. But so many shades look very similar that it can be overwhelming. Can you all help me round out my collection if I only purchased 1 or 2 more H bags? Here is what I have so far.

Lindy 30 in Etoupe (PHW)
24/24 in Craie/Beton (GHW)
24/24 in Gold (PHW)
Picotin 18 Gris Meyer (PHW)

My wardrobe is pretty neutral (mostly navy, cream, all shades of beige/brown, and black). I love neutrals, and to be honest, I'm a little afraid of bright colors lol. Plus, I have a handful of medium Chanel CFs that fill my need for color (red, pink, emerald green, blue). I don't want another black bag as I have 3 medium Chanel CFs that are black. Is there another dark color that I could use as a substitute for a black bag? What colors would you all suggest? Thank you in advance for your thoughts! I hope everyone has a blessed holiday season.

Moderators, if this shouldn't be a separate thread, I apologize and am good with merging it with an existing thread.

This thread on unusual H neutrals (many that can sub for black) is a great resource for colors. I wear the same general shades you do, probably more black, plus I love green; for my semi-neutral bags, beyond black and Gold I am personally a huge fan of dark greens, reds, and as @Ladybaga mentions, dark blues.

IMO a K28 and B30 is a perfect set of iconic Hermès bags <3

@Sweetpea_200, in addition to what QuelleFromage has suggested, there is a thread for colors
Hermes Reference Library & you can get a pretty good overview for colors in various bag styles
I'm a fan of VERT ANIS as well as VERT FONCE.. colors will look different in skins as well as sizes
JMO, you also have to give your eye a chance to adjust to colors, but we all know that nobody
else does colors like Hermes be it in a bag, shawl or accessories, etc..

Welcome back, sweatpea!
You have a lovely collection of neutral bags! What about adding a dark navy? I have a blue indigo retourne kelly which is a great neutral for my wardrobe. In some lighting it looks black, but is a true deep navy blue.
Have fun deciding!
Thank you so much! I love the colors I have now and they work well with my wardrobe. I definitely have a dark blue in mind. I was actually eying the colors caban and blue de prusse. I will add blue indigo to my list. I saw a lady in the boutique with a blue de prusse bag and I thought it was gorgeous. So many choices.

Thank you so much @QuelleFromage for pointing me to that thread. I will spend some time checking it out. I need to branch out and move away from grays, taupes, and browns. I browsed my bags last weekend and realized that I have so many bags from various brands that look so similar lol. Only because I keep going for the same neutral shades. It might be time to trim and rehome a few.

Yes, so many beautiful colors to chose from. Just browsing this forum I see so many gorgeous bags in such rich and saturated colors. I’ll make a mental note that I like this color or that one. But after a while I end up with a list of 20 colors I like but half of them are so similar to the colors I already have. I want to find something that is noticeably different than colors I already have. Appreciate the helpfulness of those on tPF.

Recently purchased a Sunrise Bolide ( Bleu Frida, Bleu Saphir & Rouge sellier)
Love the rainbow colors & the freshness of the "bleu's" working nicely with several wardrobe colors
one just has to be open minded about colors.
The combo of bleu with noir is quite chic!
Not suggesting this combo might be of interest to you, but bleu offers versatility, JMO

Love rouge sellier as well. I have that on my list of colors to pass to my SA. I can picture bleu saphir against black being beautiful. Speaking of shades of bleu are bleu lin or bleu glacier still in production? Thanks for the additional info.

Love these colors, and rouge sellier. My rainbow bolide has a section of rouge sellier, and my vintage K32 was sold to me as bordeaux:

I love certain shades of medium to dark blue very versatile. I thought for a long time that my vintage Kelly 28 was bleu abyss (that was how it was described, but Madison spa told me it was bleu indigo box which seems lighter than modern bleu indigo. .. here is a pic of bleu obscure JPG fringe ; bleu indigo k28; and bleu orage 25K

I think @momoc ‘s mini Kelly in bleu cypress is one of the most beautiful neutral bags I’ve ever seen on TPF (but not sure if its the color alone or the texture of the lizard or both. (@Meta posted the pic here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/lizard-lovers-lets-talk.153732/page-7

i also find that a darker gray then Gris Meyer is very versatile, like Gris Ardois, graphite, etc. And, I am also very fond of ebene box and clemence. medor 29 in GA.

I do think that the type of leather, felt, crinoline, toile changes the colorl The change can be subtle or quite dramatic.
so I find it helpful to show my SA inspiration pics of colors, bc then she can come up with similar shades currently in production

im having fun imagining your next neutral bag, and I love your curated choices so far. So thank you for this thread

You need a Garden Party in Bleu Nuit or Bleu de Malte - or something in a rich, deep blue colour.
*Everyone needs a GP, but that’s just my opinion
Thank you for your thoughts. I have looked at a GP. Eventually, I'd like to add one to my collection, but it's in line after some other bags :) I had my mind set on 2 more H bags and no more, but I know that's probably a fruitless thought lol . I said the same thing about Chanel. "I just need 3 or 4". Needless to say, I did not stop at 3 or 4  I suspect my experience with H might be the same. Poor DH keeps asking me "How many bags does a lady need??"

Lovely collection you have:smile: Bleu indigo or bleu marine in box Kelly 28 or 32 is the ultimate sub for a black box Kelly in my opinion. May I also throw in Rouge H? Many may say it’s not a neutral but I consider it one of my neutrals. It appears brown to me in lights more than it does red. Enjoy the process of choosing your color:smile: it’s exciting!

Rouge H is already on my list to give my SA! That is a gorgeous pop of color against my beiges and cream outfits without being too loud for my taste.

Always love seeing your posts! You always look so chic. I remember when you got that bolide. Love the colorway on it! Many of the colors you mentioned I had mentally filed away as potentials. So many beautiful colors it is really difficult for me to narrow it down lol.

After some great color suggestions from you all, looking at the swatch samples in-store, and some additional research online, I have compiled the following. If it is meant to be, I'll be able to add a few more H bags to my collection in any of these colors, but open to any neutrals I see.

Etain
Graphite
Beton
Gris Pale
Vert Amande
Rouge H
Rouge Sellier
Ebene
Bleu de Prusse
Caban
Blue Nuit

Thank you all for your suggestions! Happy Holidays!
