Need advice for first Chanel bag

So I heard that it's possible to order from BG and have the item sent to a different address as a gift to avoid being charged sales tax on the purchase. Does anyone know if that's true?

Re: your earlier questions:
For BG sales tax on gifts, I don't think they do this anymore. So if you want to avoid paying taxes, your best bet would be to buy from a Chanel in a state with no sales tax or duty-free in airport.
I'm not sure if NM takes gift certificates. Most Chanels lease the NM space so they probably wouldn't accept gift card at those locations. I know Nordstrom GCs are allowed though, plus you can get points.

So after lusting over Chanel bags for years and never daring to pull the trigger, I might be getting one this year! I had always been an LV fan and this would be my first Chanel purchase. I had always had my heart set on the medium classic flap in black caviar leather, but I also really like the look of the small flap bag with top handle. Any advice for this Chanel noob? If you have either one (or both!), which would you recommend?

Also, since I have never bought Chanel before, I have no idea how the process works...is there really a wait list? I read about how sometimes you have to wait for a long time for a bag to come in. How hard is it to actually be able to purchase a medium classic flap bag, since they're really popular?

I had the same dilemma and decided to get the medium black CF because it was the holy grail bag. After a few tries at the store, I decided it wasn't for me. I did end up getting the coco handle and absolutely love the classic shape and how it's perfect in every way. However, I did end up buying the black small CF after a year because I just needed it. The small seems proportionate to me and I just love small bags.

I would put yourself on the wait list for the CF and you will know once you try it on if you absolutely love it or not.Good luck with your first purchase.

I’m looking for my first Chanel as well! I would say go for the classic flap because the prices aren’t getting cheaper
