Need Advice for 1st Gucci Bag. (Marmont Tote or Marmont Mini Bag?)

Hi guys, I've been loving both of these Gucci bags but am unable to decide on either one. I don't get to often purchase high-end bags, so would love your opinion on which is the better buy. Both make my heart sing, but in different ways.

1) Small Matelasse Marmont Tote Bag in Black. I think it looks classic enough to possibly be timeless, yet edgy and interesting. It seems rather practical as well.

2) Mini Matelasse Marmont Bag in what looks like a Medium Rose Nude. What I love about it is it's uniqueness and how chic and pretty it looks. I am also worried that if I purchase the black tote, this one may disappear before I get my hands on it some day.

I should also mention that the black tote is about $2300 CAD, and the pink crossbody is about $1700 CAD. Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

I mean this really comes down to which fills a void in your collection. Looks-wise, I LOVE that rose nude mini!

If you're very lady-like or girly I would grab the MMM in rose nude first before it sells out. There will always be a fabulous Gucci black leather tote ghw and they are always the last colour to get discontinued and/or sent to the outlets

The Gucci soho disc in black. I use it all the time. It’s so lightweight and it’s my day time go to!

I would go with the tote because you could use/enjoy it more often. I own the mini matelasse chain bag and while it is beautiful, it's really more of a wallet on chain/clutch. You can't fit very much in it, and I find it's more of a special occasion bag because of that (unless you are used to only carrying essentials).

Maybe you could put the money you save towards a black disco if you like those x

Having purchased both (and quickly returned the WOC), I say go with the tote. Even though the tote is a bit more, it's so much more useful and versatile. Also a classic look that will stand the test of time.

When I bought the WOC in October, I recall the Neimans online SA mentioning they had around 80 in stock, so I doubt it's selling out anytime soon given it's not as popular as some other styles.

I vote for the Rose Nude as well since it is a piece that may not be around forever. I think that the black will stick around for awhile and will always be in stock but with the nude mini, once its sold out its sold out. I also love that print too!

Thank you all for your opinions! I have some mid tier black handbags, but no luxury ones yet. I'm still not 100% decided, but I believe for now I'm leaning towards pursuing the black one first because of its versatility, as incredibly stunning as the nude one is. Still, I'm still a bit torn since a lot of you love the pink one...

highend, may I ask, how did the color read? Was it more nude than pink? At times it looks dark rose, other times it reads true nude. Also thanks for sharing your experience, it was super helpful.

Mini for sure. I prefer other larger black bags like Balenciaga Metal Edge Goat skin City or Givenchy Antigona. But I think the Gucci WOCS are the best value out there. Super luxe and half the price of Chanel and they hold more. Wear this WOC with jeans and a white tea or as a clutch with a formal dress. LOVE

Saw it yesterday. nude with a pale rose wash. More neutral and nude than pink. Would not call it pink.

I’ve made the mistake of buying a rose coloured Gucci bag as my first purchase. The truth is on a daily basis it doesn’t match everything. Yes the chances are a year from now, or whenever you do want to go back for it, it might not be available to you. But you need to think of the practicality. It’s a mini bag, so for day to day use it might not fit all your things like a tote bag would. Now on the other hand, if you already have a tote/larger handbag from another company that you love and aren’t looking to be replacing, then 100% go for the mini.

As most have said, they are both beautiful. I keep coming back to the pink one for its uniqueness, but would probably purchase the black myself, because it is larger for every day. The pink one, for me, would have to be a "going out" bag. Good luck!
