Nata or craie?

The title says it all.

I have noticed that there is significant demand for craie and nata, particularly in the quota bags. Quite surprised by this given how light they are-- they are beautiful, nuanced colours but these are expensive bags and bags this light will always be more susceptible to marks etc. I thought darker colour neutrals were generally the most in demand (with the exception of certain seasonal colours), but Craie / Nata seem to challenge that given some of the reseller prices i see.

can anyone shed any light on this?

I'd say darker neutrals are generally in higher demand, but there are more of them on the market. Condition and age have a lot to do with it. New gold and black Bs still command the same premium on the resale market as craie/nata. But, if one compares older/vintage darker neutrals, then yeah, they're cheaper than new craie/nata bags that are limited in quantity.

Craie and nata are not always in season/in production and stores don't get as many craie bags versus classic colors like black or gold. it also depends on what the store ordered so there's just less of this color to go around hence the markup in resale. i do think the premium on these colors are partially driven by the hype on social media/instagram as well. A quick google search will result in numerous videos of people unboxing craie birkins and kellies. I think i've said this in another thread but craie, while the dreamiest color to photograph and style, is definitely not an everyday bag (for my lifestyle at least).
on another note, i know so many people that choose craie as their SO because its soooo incredibly difficult to get via a regular store offer.

Both are beautiful with gold, rose gold, brushed gold or permabrass hardware. Can't go wrong with either Craie or Nata. Nata has a slight yellow-pink undertone while Craie has a slight chalk grey undertone.

I have Craie in epsom and togo, and Nata in swift, all with ghw. Craie is much more suitable for daily wear to me due to the grey undertone and workhorse leather types. Whereas Nata is a brighter & creamier white on a more delicate leather that I’d only bring out on special occasions.
I personally think the whites are popular now because they go so well on small bags which are trendy now (and I happen to love).

Sorry if I’m posting this question in the wrong thread: are Birkins in Craie still popular? I just wasn’t sure if this is a classic color or one that sort of died out?

Are you trying to get one on your wishlist?
Yes I have it on my wishlist , but I also would love a black or gold Birkin as well (this will be my first quota bag) so I’m not sure if I should just stick with black or gold. My SA said Craie is a possibility for her to offer me this year.

I would just stick with what you really love and what fits your wardrobe and lifestyle. If your question is centered around what can you get more easily since you mention that your SA can get you Craie, I would just look within and ask yourself if Craie is really what you want for your first quota bag. If so, then sure proceed. If you decide you truly want black or gold (and who can blame you, they are classics for a reason), then make your wishes known to your SA.
