My SA asked my what kind of Birkin I wanted

Hey,
Some few days ago I was at my local Hermes shop and buying some stuffs with my mother in law. My SA asked my what kind of bag I was hoping for next, I told him I wanted a birkin. She than asked my which kind of and said text me and let me know what kind of colours you could prefer. She said that she had to talk with the store manager and then let me know if I can get on any list. Is it like that it works? The SA have to have a meeting with the store manager? What about the store manager not liking me:( and then I never get the birkin?
 
Hi! I am so glad this question was asked. Early Spring my SA asked me what bag I was looking for. I am pretty sure I've spent thousands with her over the last 2 years. I told her I wanted a B35 (I love larger bags) and listed a few neutral colors like Etain or Chocolate or Vert colors. She told me I'd be waiting a long time for one though. I am based in the U.S. any thoughts? Getting impatient! :panic:

I wrote up a few colors (mostly neutrals), do you think it is bad? Should I just have asked about one specific colour?

I used to say anything with blank hardware and no blank leather please. That has worked too. But some SAs/Managers/Directors want you to be very specific. So be very specific if that's what they want you to be.

Imagine, if client 1 asked for anything bright-colored and with GHW. 2nd client asks for anything with GHW. 3rd client asks for a Birkin Rouge de Coeur 25 in GHW in Epsom leather.....and said she only has one on her list and it's her "dream bag". If you were the SA (assume you have a good rapport with these three clients of yours and all have been buying from you for about three years and they have spent about the same amount each), which client would you give the only available Birkin in Rogue de Coeur 25 in GHW in Epsom leather? Which client would you think be the happiest when she gets this bag?

I see, I should definitely have given a more detailed description. Any tips on how I should go forward with this? I’m thinking of buying some more things in august. But is it good to talk about the birkin all the time?

+1 with @maxroxxherhandbags above! as other TPFers have said, there is no right way or wrong way. Don’t worry. Just communicate honestly and directly with your SA re your aesthetic and good things will come :biggrin: After you talk to your SA a few times about your likes and dislikes, she may even have suggestions for you!

That’s great news that she is reaching out to you like that! B35 is an easier ask as the size is not as requested right now. Also I think it’s ok to be less specific if it’s your first bag request as the SAs should understand you having a wider wishlist for your first one. Personally I think SA’s enjoy seeing the special joy of their clients getting that first bag.

What specs did you end up requesting?
