my Rolex - purchased 7 months ago - is running fast. It's outside of acceptable specs. It doesn't bother me that much but I do feel I should get it corrected. When it's new like this, you aren't supposed to take to to a watch repair or jeweler. It has to go back to Rolex. I'm thinking I'll wait until it gets close to the end of the 2 yr wty and then bring it to the store where I got it to be sent to Rolex.
anyone else have experience with this?

I haven't contact the store where I bought it but I'm thinking it will take maybe 3 weeks.
DH said "wait - by the time 2 years passes, you may want to change the dial." that would be another big decision for me; my understanding is that you can change the dial for a nominal charge ($300?) but they keep the old dial.

Yes. Ridiculous isn't it?? How long does rolex say it has to be with them for?

Mine was running fast, I bought it to my Rolex dealer. They cleaned it, covered by warranty. No charge to me.

Why would you want to wait until the end of the warranty period to get it repaired?

There are a few things you can try before sending it in for servicing. One is, do you wind it once/week? Some people suggest doing that to regulate the time keeping. Another one is to look at how you rest it overnight...you could vary the position and see what that does. Apparently, it's the nature of an automatic to run a little fast by being worn, and the resting position can compensate and slow it down a little. I normally keep mine on its side with the crown up. A guy on a Rolex forum I read tried all different positions and found that positioning it with the 12 o'clock side up (vertically) was best. I don't know, but it's worth seeing if it helps to balance it out.

I would not hesitate to get this taken care of now. Depending on where you purchased it (Rolex authorized dealer?) there can be a Rolex-trained repair person there who can correct it without any delay.

thanks ladies
I did buy at at an authorized dealer but they don't have an onsite watchmaker
It's my understanding that during the warranty period, you have to send to Rolex anyway. I do set it on it's side at night.
How fast? I'd say it gains at least a couple of minutes a week. I have been winding it pretty much every week.
Why wait? I guess I hate to have to give it up for a few weeks and know I'll be worrying about it getting back to me (neurotic, I know)

MINE TOO :hysteric:
Mine gains several minutes/week as well. I wear it all day so I never wind it.
I don't want to be w/o it so I've been living w/ it, but it's irritating me.

Even if you wear all day, it's supposed to help regulate the watch to wind it periodically. I don't myself do this, but I'm thinking of starting, because mine also runs a few mins. fast every week. Evidently this is normal, but since these things do pass a COSC certification, we'd like them to tell the dang time!
