I've finally finished my second Coach DIY Project...it took forever because I was fairly selective with finding the right patches for my theme of various Rock genres, bands, musicians, etc. that were popular from the '60's through the '90's.

The assortment includes some major icons of Psychedelic, Rock 'n Roll, Glam Rock, Alternative Rock -- with a little Reggae and New Wave mixed in. Most patches, which I used the gorilla glue on again, adhered nicely. You'll notice a few scratches and buckling patches -- I kept moving some patches even after they had dried, so hardened glue had to be scraped off before a new patch took its place...I got a little careless, but wasn't worried about perfection. What I learned was that it would have been much easier if I had Scotch taped the patches into a pattern in advance, and simply followed that, instead of constantly changing my mind, lol.

The little enamel pins vertically lining the middle of each side, pushed through the leather reasonably well. They never pierced the fabric lining behind it.

I bought this Black, Glovetanned Leather Explorer (Men's List) from the FOS several months ago -- it was only $199! There's a slightly larger one which is about $50 more, I think. I didn't need another carry on, but loved working on this project and WILL use it next time I travel. I'm thinking my next project will be using travel patches from all over the world -- maybe not the most original theme but i haven't yet picked a bag for it.

Sorry to ramble, here are the pics -- the first four are one side of the bag and the next four are the other side.

HERE'S THE OTHER SIDE:

PS -- There were many musicians I love that I couldn't find patches for, so the ones on here I selected mainly because I thought they looked cool, they aren't necessarily my favorite bands.

LOOOOVE! That includes the selection of patches as a lot of them are representative of my own youth, and from my more concert-going years. Just an amazing and fun bag. I want one!

My husband collects and adheres patches onto his dive logs from all the places we travel and dive. It might not be a unique idea, but it can be very unique to you when you use patches that you identify with, but that could mean a much longer term project as you add patches over time :)

Omg, I absolutely love it! So funny I was just thinking yesterday I have a couple of patches I would like to use, but didn't have a bag to put them on. I was looking for a Harveys Seatbelt bag, but this looks so wonderful! What kind of glue did you use?

OK sister, this is cool! I love all except I've never heard of the deep purple in rock. You are going to get so many compliments when you wear this, as well you should. Probably even be a conversation starter multiple times! I love it!

I appreciate your kind words, thx! Your travel and diving lifestyle sounds very exciting! You guys must be great athletes. I'd love to see all the patches you've accumulated so far, although that may not be doable (to take pics).

Glad you like it but I can't believe you never heard of Deep Purple...but I AM older than you. Their biggest hit was Smoke on the Water. They WERE totally forgettable but I liked the patch. I googled them and apparently they've still been touring with various band members, I wasn't even sure if they were still alive even! :giggle:
