Thanks so much. I never knew about either of these sites. I was looking at some of the famous jewelers and the prices were ridiculous~this will help us alot. She is petite. So I'm wondering if I should get 16" or 18" ~ I keep going back and forth.

After all these years of paying for college for her and our son before...it's FINALLY over! :yahoo:

QueenCatherine, i ordered the solitaire pendant from pearlsonly.com and the earrings from pearlparadise.com. i think between the two, i prefer pearlparadise.com. both sites had very good customer service, but pearlparadise shipped quicker. i also like that pearlparadise carries the freshadama line (which FlgirlFM refers to as the Rolls of FW pearls-- lol ).

as for necklace length for your DD, do you know if she prefers her necklaces short or long? i'm petite and i prefer 16" necklaces in the spring and summer. i wear a lot of turtlenecks in the fall/winter and usually wear 18" necklaces so i can wear them over my turtlenecks. i guess i'm no help

No problem guys! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

ooh congrats blingaholic, your pearls are gorgeous! Yours too frannita  Thanks so much for sharing your pics.

I'm having trouble deciding the overtone. I read that silver is better for people with yellow undertones, and rose is universally flattering. There is also a silver rose available. I am fair, with yellow undertones, frequent rosy cheeks. Which overtone would flatter me? Silver, or silver rose?

Thanks for your help (apologies for the threadjack).

Hm... It's hard to tell. Maybe try silver. IMO: Silver rose is just rose that isn't as intense as the normal... Have you looked at the ivory overtone? That might work well. It's so hard to tell unless you can see them in person. I think silver might work the best though. Never fear! If you pick the "wrong" overtone, it'll still look GREAT :yahoo: My freshadama white strand has the ivory overtone (bleh), and I'm a textbook rose, and it still looks great on me. It's not like people will be whispering "Oh my God! Who is that girl's jeweler? The overtone is so totally wrong for her!"

Thanks for your input!! I have the same issue with her as far as the necklines go. She will be wearing business clothes for work wich in the winter would include sweaters and Tecks. But she also does a lot of bluses and layering She is 23y/o and very hip~but loves the classic feel of pearls.

I want to get her an Akoya strand. She has a F.W. strand and is ok with that~Hmm? Just thought, I'll have to check the length on that and maybe get the opposite in the Akoya???

I looked at both sites last night and they both look amazning in terms of pricing. Even the Tahitians were so much less than of seen them in B/M stores.

Well...need to do a bit more homework it guess?? I have till MAy 19th~her big day!

BTW...Your pendant is gorgeous..I might just need one of those for me :smile1:
What mm size and tone is that?

My daughter has an light olive complexion~so I'm not sure about tone either!

QueenCatherine- i've been looking for that pendant for a long time and i'm glad i finally found it :) i think you definitely need one, too ;) it's 8-9mm, white body color with a rose overtone. if you do buy it, look around for coupon codes for the site. i got 10% or 15% off for the purchase. there's also a coupon code floating around the internet for pearlparadise for $10 off each item you buy.

i've found that overtones are funny things. before i got the freshadama studs, i was wearing large FW button studs that were cream colored with rose overtone, and i had no idea they brought out the yellow undertones in my skin til i got the freshadamas. i think you can also contact someone at pearlparadise to ask for help choosing overtones.

I got my 8-9mm freshadama earrings today!!! They are so beautiful! How beautifully packaged too with all the documentation and such. I was very impressed. If I knew how to post a pic here~I would. Then again you all have seen so many already. Now with the earrrings I ordered from Pearl Paradise I got emails all the way through and it was about 6 days and they were here. I have also ordered that same single pearl pendant that FlgirlFM bought and posted pics of. BUT from PearlsOnlyas a test. I want to see the difference in quality, and c.c.between the two companies before I order my daughters graduation pearls.

PearlsOnly has not been the greatest with communication. I can't reach anyone by phone, all I get is a message saying to email them. I had asked if a lobster claw clasp could be put on and if it could to just do it and I'd pay the difference. Well, for some reason that is holding them up. They emailed me once like the day after the order. And I answered them right away...and nothing since then. I considered cancelling and just getting it frpm Pearl Paradise~but now they are not showing the YG version of the pendant on their site!!! UGH!!!

So, I think between all the advice you lovely ladies have given me, plus my expereince; when it comes to the big purchase in a couple of weeks, I'll get the Hanadama strand for her graduation from PP.

Callire or anyone else...I had asked once about overtones for her and I'll be darned if I can't find the post Callire answered me with. I ordered rosetone as my skin is so pale it's practically tansluscent. But my DD inherited the Italian gene from my Dad and has a light olive clear complexion. She tans; doesn't burn like I do (I got the Englisgh Rose gene from my Mum)! So if someone can help, me out with this once more I would be so very grateful.

Her graduation is May 19th so I'm trying to get into the 30 day window without the size I want selling out...wish me luck!! And a big THANKS to all of you who have helped me with this. I know a lot about gemstones~but pearls have always been a mystery to me as much as I love them, I've never taken the time to learn like this. This site is wonderful that we can ask when we need help and also offer advice on things we are more knoweledgeable about! AWE.....All warm and tingly!

Have a great night everone....sweet dreams of diamonds, rubies, sapphrres, pearls and all things glittering and gorgeous :=)

i bought and posted pictures of the single pearl pendant from pearlsonly, not FlgirlFM. :smile1:

i do agree with you that PO was a bit lacking in communication. i like PP better and wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. here's a link to a post callire wrote in response to another member's question about overtones. hopefully that will help.

Rose for you, silver for her ;) You could even get her silver-rose if you'd like a touch of the rose overtone, but silver should work best because of the high contrast.
