Recently, I have an idea to design a New Diamond Ring that is unique yet suitable for daily wear. My Idea is to make a diamond ring shaped like a "Eye", other than the design is unique, my purpose is also for it to deflect "Evil Eye" like a Warding Charm or Talisman with bling. Morever the Metaphysical Properties of Diamond, it is said to possess Great Protection Power against all Negative Influences, many do not know it also has "Magnifying Effect" which make it truly "King of Gem". An amulet that protects against fire, water, snakes, thieves, illnesses, predatory animals, sorcery, poison. A Talisman that protect against evil eye or evil spell.

I took my drawing to my Jeweler. After discussing with my Jeweler, she made some amendments to my original design, whereby the sharp corner of the eye are made rounded so it look more musculine, the Diamond Solitaire which represent the "Eyeball", which i want it to be movable, able to slide left & right, initially i wanted bezel setting, she suggested it to be a 4 prong setting but still movable. The "Eye Outline", i wanted 2 row of bezel channel setting diamonds, she suggested 4 prong paved channel setting. My choice of diamonds are White, Champagne or Black to accentuate my 1.03 Carat White Solitaire Round Brilliant with 18k Yellow Gold, the diamond accent got to be at least 8-10 pointers i probably need about 20-30 diamonds whereby TCW around 1.60-3.00, She suggested 5 pointers Cognac Champagne with 18k White Gold.

I decided to go ahead with it, accepting all her suggestions, i specifically ask her to do a good work in making this ring. From my experience, i feel my original design will look much better but i have to trust her professional advice.

I just collected the Ring, to be frank i am not happy with it, it is too far off from what i want. I have already paid her so i got no choice. What do you think?

I think it is beautiful. Can we see some hand shots?

However you are the one who needs to be happy with this. I am sure you could work something out with your jeweler if you let her know your displeasure.

Why can't you have her redo it? I have a friend who had a jeweler redo a ring three times because they kept getting what she wanted wrong. she didn't have to pay any extra because they made the mistakes, not her (but it did take over six months).

doesn't matter what I think if YOU don't like it. You probably paid a lot of money for it.

It does look eye-like to me, I don't know how attractive because I haven't seen it on your hand. i don't believe in the evil eye so don't think it will be helpful as a magical object no matter how it looks. The diamonds are beautiful, I don't usually like champagne diamonds but those ones look very nice.

It's an attractive design but it doesn't make me think "evil eye" or even "eye" when I see it. I think the two bands of pave would need to come to a point quicker on each side to get that look.

When I see that, I do not in any way think eye, evil eye, or otherwise. It's pretty but if it's not at all what you wanted I hope you have some recourse.

Actually she is not my regular Jeweler, my regular Jeweler is a guy, he gave me a higher quote for the work, she just done a few minor jewelry works for me but she gave me a lower quote by around 40%. So i gave her my 1.03 Carat VVS1 White Brilliant Cut Diamond Solitaire.

Days later she called me on my cellphone, she told me it might cost more, she gave me another quote which is 20% higher than my Regular Jeweler. She assured me she will do a good job but i told her the price must be of this amount which my Regular Jeweler quoted me previously, nothing more. I got no choice because my solitaire is with her, this solitaire cost me a bomb.

The next day i talk to my Regular Jeweler again, then i changed my mind so i called her up wanted to cancel my order & take back my solitaire. But she told me she had already started to work on it so again i got no choice.

They are both Private Jewelers.

When i collected the ring from her, i don't like it instantaneously but she said it because i am not used to it, after wearing it i would love it. After wearing it for days, people commented, most of my girl friends love it, one of my guy friend said it look too feminine, my brother said it look like costume jewelry, make my solitaire look cheap. Another friend who got alot of diamonds said it's nice the solitaire is movable but such setting not safe, in time due to wear it will loosen & might fall out unknowingly then it would be my greatest regret. After wearing few days, initially the solitaire can only move left & right, now it is abit shaky when i push it with my finger top to bottom.

I have spoken to her personally. She wants to charge me again if i want to redo it. She said i agreed to her suggestions. I am still deciding whether to do it, i am not willing to pay more. If i need to pay again i rather not do it or get my Regular Jeweler to do it. One thing for sure, i want to mount the solitaire on the ring permanently so it will not move so it is safer. I got a feeling, she will charge me alot more again to redo it.

Well the Old Ways & Wisdom are still in existent till this era means something, we just have to perceive it with open heart & mind.

The Cognac Champagne diamonds are of good color, cut & clarity, they are nice, natural untreated & equal size.

Precisely, It look like 2 engagement eternity ring with a solitare wedding ring or a double diamond paved ring guard with a solitaire ring in the middle, look like girl's ring in a way, goodness it is big if not look worse.

It's my mistake, initially wanted to save abit, it turn out to cost more, most importantly i spent more but i am not happy with it. So ironic, i end up losing more when i want to save abit, should stick to the way i want it done but i chose to listen to her so called professional advice. So dumb... i mean me.:mad:

Considering she changed your design AND the price after you already had an agreement I'd report her to the BBB. And possibly dispute with you credit card company.

Precisely, the 2 sharp corners from my original design, she change it to more rounded saying it will look more masculine.

Hopefully, it can be resolve to my liking. It got to be more or less like an "Eye" if not it defeat the purpose of making this new ring. I got lots of rings to begin with, need not an additional redundant piece.

She is professional, i am not so i listened to her professional advice. It is a verbal agreement, price quote is estimated cost, final true cost subjected to changes as this is customised piece.

Few years back, i had a ring done by a Jeweler who is my mom's friend, my original design is octagon shape meaning 8 sided with a Imperial Jadeite in bezel setting in the middle. When it is done, it look so far off, more like retangular with 4 corner taper off with thick heavy gold of 15 grams, literally look like huge stamp. I immediately reject it but he resolved it by charging me a lower labour charge, 50% off just the labour charge. So i decided not to make thing difficult as he is my Mom's friend morever he is kind enough to charge me lesser. At least he tried to resolve it in a fair way.

My dear i paid a considerable amount to make this ring excluding the cost of my Diamond Solitaire which i paid alot, morever it is 18K Gold, with current Cut-throat High Gold Price, gold alone already cost quite abit. With that price i can get a decent, elegant ring off any Reputable Jeweler.

I already sat down & spoken to her personally, my option is i can redo it but she got to charge me, again she never stated how much exactly. I am going to my Regular Jeweler, see what is his take, what price to redo or amend. After that i will decide what to do with consideration of all your kind comments.

I hope to solve it amicably if i can. I do not like conflict, such energy will taint my ring, of coz i want to be happy.
