I'm sorry to hear about the sagging of your bag. I personally do not like slouchy bags, that's why I went for the saffiano leather. After seeing so many saggy Hamiltons, I knew I made the right choice. Saffiano leather is more structured and I also hear it softens over time but like the regular leather. I do, however, think the weight of the lock and the lower setting of the handles are factors of the saggy-ness, and also depends on how much you stuff your bag. I don't think the MK store will do anything for your bag for it's a normal wear and tear type situation. But I would suggest that from here forward, to stuff your Hamilton all the way up, covering all 4 corners with tissue/wrapping paper/whatever to help keep its shape. I have the outlet version of the Hamilton and it's starting to sag due to the handles and the logo plate. Maybe you should try laying the bag down on its BACK rather than hanging it using the handles or having it sit upright on a shelf; this will help alleviate the gravity pulling down the leather, if that makes any sense.

I totally agree.

I'm sort of having this problem too... I got the saffiano Hamilton in black.

It still holds its shape after a many months of daily use and lugging somewhat heavy things in it for work; only minimal sagging in the upper part.

The only thing is that the other corner has caved in! The back is perfectly fine and so is the other corner of the front, but this left one is caved. It was fine when it arrived. On the upper part there also can be seen a small "fold" that was minimal when it arrived, now it is a little more visible. The saffiano leather does keep is shape, but instead of "smooching" up like the regular leather one, the saffiano is more prone folds in the body of the leather (but only that one fold is really visible.)

I was thinking if the corner it could be fixed by a cobbler by attaching some kind of heavy duty (iron-on?) interfacing to the back of the leather on the front (Normally I’m very much DIY but I don’t think I have the equipment for this, haha), which would help support the "fold", and maybe attach some sort of firm but curving plastic to support the corner area so it could not cave in anymore.

I try to keep the bag laid flat as much as possible, but it is so much more handy and pretty standing up... And once the saffiano starts folding in, there's nothing you can do really. :/

edit: I also don't live in the US and there are no MK boutiques here, so my chances for a shop repair are slim...

I just got my saffiano hamilton this past Friday and have been using it since. The heaviest thing i carried in there was my laptop but felt bad for the bag and didn't want it to wear my bag any faster so i took it out; i still felt bad so i would just carry my bag like a baby so there's no weight pulling on either strap/handles, haha!! OCD. But I'm already seeing more 'waves' and 'caves' on the top of my bag, also. I'm thinking it's the handles! Usually, the waves don't bother me (it's happened to my regular leather hamilton) but I'm just surprised that it's starting to happen after using it for less than 5 days..I also took the lock off because I think it's a big reason why it sags, but that's just my opinion.

I would venture to guess that OP's particular bag is a young calfskin, so it is softer and suppler. I think the older the cow, the tougher the skin and how it's put through the production process makes each leather respond differently. I for one, love this slouchy look.

I really love the saffiano and was looking at them yesterday at MK to replace my regular leather hamilton which got ruined by a leaking can of hairspray. I hope they all don't have issues of folding or caving :/ I will be heartbroken... again.

This is pretty normal due to gravity if the bag is standing up for any period of time. My chanel flap is pretty "dented" all along at the bottom and corners too, it is just gravity from sitting upright in closet.

Not sure if you want to attach metal corners to the bag, it would change the original design, but might offer the rigid stable corners. (LV had the metal corners for their multicolor speedy, just like on their luggage trunks)

I actually meant that I would like to install some corner support inside the caved in corner... of course it would require making an opening in the bag lining and then sewing it shut. But this way it wouldn't change the original appearance.

Sorry to hear your chanel caved in too, I'd hate if that happened to a bag in that price range....

Hi everyone.

Purchased this bag at an MK boutique on christmas 2011. I use it every now and then, its definitely not my every day bag. However the leather at the top of the bag where the strap and lock are is soo floppy and out of shape. It bunches up and looks so awkward. I dont understand. I perused many pages of the hamilton clubhouse thread and no one elses bag look likes this. All the bags hold their shape except mine. How can i get the bag to stand up straight and tall without the leather sagging?

I also want to add it's not the lock causing the problem. I took the lock off and it still looks like this. I think the problem is that the handles are placed too low, and the leather is too stiff. Is there anyway michael kors will replace this bag? I mean what if the bag is defected and the handles just weren't placed correctly? Please refer to attached pictures. Thank you.
My bag I bought a few years ago looks EXACTLY like yours :( I just want to know if you brought it to the MK store to see what they would say. I'm very unhappy that it's sagging THIS much. I looked at the Hamilton forum and I haven't seen a picture that's as bad as mine in terms of sagging :(

Personally I have not bought a Hamilton yet because I worry they may look to stiff for me. This slouchiness (not sure that is a word!) is exactly what I would want!:love::love:

that looks a little unusual. I have not seen anyone else's bag look like that, neither does mine. from the photos it looks like the chain is weighing down the top of the bag, so when you are not holding the straps, the bag will slouch like that because of the chains.

The Hamilton is a structured bag by design and should keep that structured appearance period. It should not sag or lose shape. Leather will give though and the company will say it's meant to be like that but not so. This is the very reason MK has re made this bag in the new stiffer leather. If I wanted a slouchy bag I would have bought one. My bag has become a disappointment as well :(
