Have decided to stop highlighting my hair. It's got to the stage that I'm happy with where I am going with it.
If at a later I want get a few highlights then I will.
But this has been one of the best things I could have done for my hair and for me.View attachment 4574988
I wish my gray was completely grown out. It is taking so long. Your hair looks so healthy.

Isn’t it funny how when you’re covering roots, the hair seems to grow so fast, but when you’re growing it out, it takes foreverrrrr.... :whut:

The last time I had color was a half highlight at the end of June. I was not pleased at the time because she also cut it shorter than I wanted. I was supposed to go back for more highlights in September, but as the date approached, I just didn’t want to go. I kept bugging DH about whether I should get more highlights or not, or lowlights to blend stuff, and he finally said, “You’re never happy with it anyway, so why keep paying money to be unhappy?” I told him he was overstating things, but he said that even when I am happy right after an appointment, the satisfaction never lasts. He was like, “If you’re not going to be happy, why not just cancel the appointment and see how it grows out?” So I did! And I haven’t done a thing to it in terms of cut or color since.

Originally I was planning to keep highlighting, but now that I’ve canceled an appointment, I’m surprisingly happy to just let it go — or let it grow — for a while. So far, I’m finding my hair is darker and less gray than I thought. I’ve got some gray streaks along my part line, but no hard demarcation line. Now I’m curious what it will look like fully grown out.

1 highlight session in a year’s period of time, no toner - last highlights about 6 months ago. I’m looking more like the natural blonde I was as a child. It had later turned a reddish auburn color, then salt and pepper, now this!
