Please be careful with your lovely ring. I was told emeralds are a softer stone and prone to damage.

I have an emerald ring and I have to be careful as well, but not overly cautious since I do bang it on things and only see few scratches without major damage. Emeralds are not as hard as diamond or the corundum family of sapphires and rubies. I own both emerald and sapphires and see the differences. The MOHs scale that categorizes hardness of minerals rates emerald (a beryl family) a 8, corundum a 9, and diamond a 10.
