i've been in europe since july 1st. first i went to FSH and ended up being rejected rudely by the SA when i asked about kelly. at first she was ok when i asked about lindy (but too bad they don't have the color that i wanted), then after i asked about kelly then she started behaving rudely and ended up rejecting me by saying "NO KELLY NO BIRKIN! NOTHING"
was surprised when she has to say that so bluntly while i was simply asking whether they have it in stock or not. she was rude also when i asked about the shoulder birkin on display, she didn't even look at me :wtf:

then i went to avignon, had the same experience as honey88's sister though. the SA there also "required" me to purchased clothings before i can get my kelly or birkin. she said about 2000 euro for kelly and about 3000 euros for a birkin. a japanese bought clothing worth of 3700 euros the previous day then she immediately able to purchase a birkin :faint:
but she was nice enough to help us to ask the manager whether we can purchase a kelly or not (after my sister in law bought a herbag from her). but the manager said NO *sigh*

i went to brescia store and they had 3 KELLYS on display and yet they refused to sell them to me simply because they're ALL on reserved (i thought for reserved kellys or birkins the SA put them on the back of the store?)

Cannes, absolutely no luck! they immediately said NO when i asked

i went to milan's store, still NO but then the SA was kind enough to check a lindy bag for me all over italy :yahoo: found one in padua store. immediately went there to get it (the SA was very kind and helpful too-got a travel birkin there but too big to carry it around town so i passed)

venice, same experience (should i give up?) the SA was friendly though and showed me and my sis in law some lindys

in florence now, hopefully i can find one. does anyone know which SA i should see? HELP!

will be in rome on the 13th-17th then to athens

Welcome to the forum, and sorry to read this. Purchasing a kelly or birkin is normally down to luck, or a long-term relationship. Sending more luck your way...keep trying and you'd never know! Good luck!

So sorry to hear about your experiences at H in France. Really no excuse for rudeness. Glad you found your Lindy and hope things get better on the rest of your trip. Good luck.

dreamdoll : hello too. so happy that i can find blog about my passion :) well wish me luck. i think i need it badly :crybaby:

hermesmonkey : really? i thought SA everywhere are the same? or maybe in the states they know what customer service means. lol. any particular store to visit in the states?

pyrexia : thank you :hugs:

tnw : yap. that lindy really brightened my day. well at least i don't come home empty handed now. wil still try for a birkin or a kelly though. love those two to death

sorry to hear about your horrible experience. yes, SAs in FSH can get terribly abrupt as they are bombarded with the same questions almost every 10 minutes. it is no excuse and i hope that you talk to the manager at least!

with regards to your purchase, have you considered sticking with one SA (be it France or your local country?) and just working with him/her for long term relationship? otherwise, to be honest, for the month of July/August/Sep, you will be competing with the thousands of visitors in Europe and then, it is really down to luck and timing.

good luck with your search! persevere and i am sure you will find your Kelly.

Put yourself in the shoes of a store manager.... Would you sell a birkin to anyone who asks for one, or do you reserve it for someone who buys loads of other things as well.

The fact that you refused to buy other goods when offered puts you very low on their priority for a birkin IMHO.

As for the treatment at FSH, I think you may have appeared abrupt and rude to them as no one I know at FSH would treat you badly without good reason.

WOW! I'd LOVE to be able to travel to all those cities in one trip. *sigh* How wonderful!

As far as your experiences at Hermes.....To expect to be able to walk into a store and be shown a Birkin or Kelly from the back storage room when you have not developed a relationship with an SA is an exercise in optimism. I hope you find what you are looking for but my feeling is that you may have to stumble across exactly what you want sitting on the shelves.....

i went to the firenze shop today and there wasn't any kelly or birkin on the shelves. my husband told me that he saw them got another shipment this morning.

the only time i asked immediately for a kelly was at the avignon store though. other than that, i asked either for a lindy or wallets first.
i don't mind paying for other things like herbag, lindy, wallets, shoes. but the avignon SA specifically said that i have to purchase clothings for several thousand euros first before i can get my kelly or birkin, which i hesitated though..

after going in and out several stores, i assumed that kelly or birkin questions are very sensitive to these SA :wondering

kinda hard for me to have a relationship with a particular SA since i don't live in europe  but definitely will keep a good relation with a particular SA

I have not tried to purchase a handbag in Europe, but I have seen many threads of people who have been fortunate to walk in and find a bag on the shelf. I suspect at least part of the problem may be that you are there during the height of the summer tourist season and the SAs are probably bombarded with the same questions all day - do you have a Birkin or Kelly?!? Perhaps if you can go at another time of year or look in another place? I hope that you can find what you are looking for. It sounds as if you are having a wonderful trip from the wonderful places that you are so fortunate to visit!

I, too, am sorry to hear that you've had such rude encounters with SAs thus far. There is absolutely no excuse for rudeness by/from/to anyone. As far as requiring the purchase of clothing before showing you a Birkin or Kelly, I've never heard of that before. I have never purchased a handbag that was conditioned on the purchase of clothing. In fact, aside from scarves and shawls, I've never purchased clothes from Hermes.

Sorry about your experience. I was offered a bag (I chose a Kelly) on my first visit to a UK Hermes, after I bought a Globetrotter agenda (which I planned on buying anyway).

I can't believe how hard it has been for you, although the relationship with a particular SA is the key to getting what you want. There's lots of advice here, keep trying, although I would only buy what you want and love. If you are going to be "forced" to spend thouands extra then you might as well go to a reseller.

OP, Sorry to hear this, I hope you can buy your desired bag/bags soon it is a frustrating position for you. If you like the accessories then id suggest going in and buying some over a period of time and building a relationship up with a store before testing the water! if you don't like the scarves etc etc then maybe hermesfsh has suggested another option but you have to pay the premium... hope you gain success soon and report back with a bag!!

Id imagine different stores have different guidlines.....

I understand your dilemna of not having the time to build up a relationship with a SA when you are travelling from European city to city, but if it helps it is pure luck to find a Birkin or Kelly from the get go by walking into any European store. Perhaps it would be better to get to know a SA local to where your H store is back home. Good luck in your search.
