Hi Ralph,
I agree with you, and that's why I plan to go back and see if Dr. Kim would narrow the nose bone. I hate the idea of going through that recovery process all over again, but I think now is the best time, since I can cover my face with my mask! lol

I personally do not recommend going through SMG for your surgery. They work with specific hospitals, so that alone is biased in my opinion. As you mentioned before, ID had a few botched surgeries. I'm not sure about the other clinics, but I do remember going to JK for my FG consultation and they gave me a crazy high price compared to what some other people paid. I called them out on it so they lowered the price and offered me a model contract. I got a really sketchy vibe from them and decided not to get my surgery there. I don't know much about the other clinics, but the only two doctors I could recommend right now are Dr.Kim from ITEM and Dr. Kim from OPERA. Their work is consistent, they're safe, and they have a wonderful team... which is very important for post-surgery care. Most importantly, both of them try their best to satisfy their clients. Some doctors stop responding/caring the minute they complete your surgery, but they're not like that. They will listen to your concerns and help you find a solution. There's a Kakao chatroom where you could find more info about Answer PS, View PS, and Iron Ps from people who had their surgery at those clinics. PM me if you want to join that chat. Good luck!
hi! could you please pm me so i could join! sorry im still not sure how to pm people I only know how to respond!

thank you for all this info! If you don't mind me asking, is there a reason you choose not to use rib?
I don't mind at all! I didn't want to use rib for my primary surgery. I would only use rib if I somehow needed a revision 10-20 years from now. I didn't see a lot of aesthetically pleasing before and after pictures that I liked with people who used rib, but I'm sure there are many doctors who could deliver some amazing results using rib. You just need to find an experienced surgeon, because rib cartilage has a tendency to wrap or change shape if you end up in the hands of an inexperienced surgeon.

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to write about my nose job surgery experience at ITEM Clinic with Dr. Kim. Before we get into the review, I'd like to mention the reason I wanted to get my nose done in the first place. Around the age of 14, I became insecure about my nose. I felt like my nose was too wide for my face and thought I would look prettier with a less wide/bulbous nose. My goal was not to change my nose and look like someone else but to enhance my nose so that I'd look like a prettier version of myself. Now, let's get started with the review. In Feb 2020, I consulted with three clinics and decided to get my surgery done at ITEM for numerous reasons.

1. I met with a girl who had gotten her rhinoplasty surgery with Dr. Kim, she had a similar (thick) nose to mine, and her results were beautiful!

2. Dr. Kim made me feel comfortable because he was direct, and he did not rush our consultation. He kept asking me if I had any more questions, and he answered each-and-every one of them.

3. Joy was the most amazing translator I've ever met. She was kind, responsive, and tried her hardest to help me out in any way possible, especially post-surgery, but I'll talk more about that later on.

On the day of my consultation, Dr. Kim and I went over what I wanted. I told him I wanted an alar reduction, tip plasty, silicone implant, and to narrow the overall look of my nose. Dr. Kim had suggested that I didn't need the silicone implant because I already had a defined nose bridge (I didn't realize that until he pointed that out.) I agreed but told him I thought the silicone implant might give my nose more definition, so we agreed to use a small implant. No more than 2/2.5 mm max.

Here are some before pictures: As you can see, I have really thick skin, a wide nose, and flared alar rims.

My surgery date was on February 14th. I know right, how romantic lol. I met with Joy, did some paperwork, met with Dr. Kim, and we went over the surgery plans once again. As we were going over the plans, I realized we didn't address him narrowing down my nasal bone, so I asked him if he could do so, and he first said he didn't think I needed it and then he said he thought it would be safer to wait and see if I wanted it done after this surgery. Honestly, I had a bad feeling once he said that because I knew that's one thing I wanted to get done because I had a wide nose, so narrowing the nasal bone would've helped with the overall look. I also did NOT want to pay to get my nose done twice, but at that point, it was too late, and I didn't want to second guess him or put pressure on him to do it since he was against it at that moment. So, I went ahead and had the surgery.

Here are some post-surgery pictures: This was on the 7th day when I got my cast removed. My nose was covered with blackheads and it was super swollen for about 3 months.

My surgery was perfect! I woke up in the recovery room feeling thirsty as hell! My throat was so dry, and I had to wait to drink water. The clinic was very nice to provide me with everything I needed for my post-surgery recovery. Their recovery bag included my medications, two ice/heating pads, pumpkin juice, q-tips, petroleum jelly, extra gauze, and a face mask.

Here are some pictures of what's provided in the post-surgery bag.

My post-surgery experience was great! My surgery price included all of my post-op appointments. Dr. Kim always took his time to analyze my nose and answer all of my questions. Joy was attentive and responded to all of my messages right away. I'm not going to lie, after my cast removal, I was depressed for the first three months of my recovery. First of all, my nose bridge and nose tip were extremely high. I couldn't believe it! Dr. Kim had said I didn't need an implant in the first place, so I was shocked when I saw my nose bridge. Secondly, I wasn't aware that I wasn't going to be able to smile for months! The healing process varies from person to person, but I had my surgery on Feb 14th, and I wasn't able to fully smile until the end of April. My smile looked weird for a VERY long time. Lastly, I had a hard time breathing out of my right nostril. Because of those three issues, I kept messaging Joy all day and night, but she was so patient with me. Always responded to all of my questions and concerns nicely and politely.

Here are some pictures showing my bridge now. I think it's nice for those who like high nose bridges, but I don't like it nor do I think it fits my face. The first picture is without makeup and the second picture is with makeup.

I am getting close to my one-year mark so here are my final thoughts. Overall, I think Dr. Kim did a good job, but I think he’s done better on other patients. I'll start with the cons. I wish Dr. Kim had narrowed my nose as I asked. I am still insecure about how the left side of my nose bone is wider than the right. I think my results would have been nicer had he performed an osteotomy. The other thing I am not happy with is the height of my bridge. When I reached out to Joy, I learned that Dr. Kim had used a 3mm implant, which explains why my nose bridge is this high. Joy explained that Dr. Kim went with the 3mm implant because he had to shave down a small bump on my nose, but I don't think a 3mm implant was necessary. On a lighter note... the tip of my nose did drop, and it looks beautiful. Also, my nostril breathing issue has gotten better, but it has not been resolved. Dr. Kim did ask me to go see an ENT doctor, but I'm an English teacher who can't request time off during the school year, so I plan to see an ENT doctor this week. I'll end this review with the pros. While it may sound like I'm unhappy, I think the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. My surgery went well, my post-surgery care was great! The post-surgery communication was magnificent. I would only advise these four things for anyone who plans to have surgery.

1. Do your research! Know exactly what you want… from the procedures to the silicone sizes.

2. Be firm about what you want. I wanted an osteotomy, so I should have made sure I had gotten it.

3. Go to a safe and honest clinic that covers all of your post-surgery appointments and medications. ITEM was amazing in that department. I wasn't worried about shadow doctors or something going wrong with my anesthesia.

4. Know that the recovery process is LONG but so worth it!

So, would I recommend Dr. Kim? Yes, I would. As I mentioned earlier, aside from my nose bridge being too high and him not narrowing down my nose, everything else was perfect. I was told by someone who just had their surgery at ITEM that Dr. Kim will be moving to his own clinic so please keep that in mind. If you have any questions, feel free to message me or leave a comment below.

Here are some of my most recent pictures: My new nose looks much better, but I would have been a lot more satisfied if the bridge of my nose was lower and my nasal bone was narrowed. I have thick skin, so I don’t think this is the final result. I might update this review if there are any changes. Thanks for reading, and I hope you found this review helpful.

****PS: This isn't a promotional review. I paid for my entire surgery in full and did not receive anything in return.

Quick update:

Went for my revision consultation today and I was directed to go up to the 8th floor. That's going to be Dr. Kim's new clinic. His new clinic is called JT Plastic Surgery Clinic. So, It's in the same building, but just on the 8th floor. The aesthetics were bright and modern. I loved it!

The consultation was okay. Dr. Kim agreed to lower my nose bridge and narrow the nose bone, but of course, there were NO openings that matched with my schedule. I've been seeing a lot of people experience this same issue when they try to book their revision surgery, they're told that the clinic is fully booked. I don't think ITEM is being sketchy, but I wish they figured out a way to do my surgery since I could only do it during my school break. I also didn't like how Joy kept telling me she liked my nose and dismissing how badly I wanted this revision. Anyway, now I'm back to researching and weighing out some other doctors. I will keep you guys posted on my journey <3

Hi Soulmate_92, My name is Ralph, and I'm a new member. I like the new nose that you got. In my opinion, the nasal bone could have used some more narrowing jobs. But they're looking great on you. By the way, I have a few questions regarding rhinoplasty surgeons, and I hope you can help me. I'm a male located in the US. I'm trying to locate a good rhino surgeon who's specialized in rhinoplasty in Korea. I've contacted the seouldmedicalguides for leads to the right rhino surgeons. Kris @ the seoulmedicalguides responded to my request and attached a PDF file consisting of 5 clinics that, according to Kris, would be of great choice if I really decide to have my nose fixed by one of them. The list that Kris recommends includes Answer PS, Iron PS, View PS, ID hospital, and JK PS. As far as my research goes, I find many negative reviews about the ID hospital in connection with botched plastic surgeries. That being said, ID hospital is crossed off the list. About the other 4 clinics, I'm considering Dr. Min Choi @ Answer PS. Do you know or hear about this clinic or this doctor by any chance? Someone online wrote that Dr. Min Choi strictly operates 2 surgeries per day to ensure the best outcomes. I'd love to gather as many useful tips as I can before making up my mind on which doctors I should go to. If you have any good rhinoplasty surgeons to recommend, that'd be awesome.

There was a person on the PS KakaoTalk chat who was botched by Dr. Choi at Answer PS and from what I remember, they had a really bad experience afterwards trying to get Dr. Choi to compensate or do revision on their nose. It seems like their post-service is not so great... Also because Dr. Choi does only two surgeries per day, he is pretty expensive even for local Koreans.

That's horrible. People pay a lot of money for these surgeries, doctors should take that into consideration when it comes to revisions and post-op care. No one should have to walk around with a nose they hate after paying a lot of money for their surgery. It's very unlikely for doctors to give the money back, but I hope he/she pushes for that revision.

So I'm here with another update. I visited OPERA for my revision, but thankfully ITEM had a surgery cancelation so I ended up doing my revision with them yesterday. As I mentioned before, my main concern was the height of my bridge and narrowing my nose a little bit. I personally wanted to remove the implant altogether, but Dr. Kim said it would be best to use a 1mm silicone implant because he had already risen the tip of my nose. I have no problem with the tip of my nose, but I'm worried that the bridge might still be too high for my liking. If that's the case, I might actually have a meltdown. Again, I feel like I agreed to his plans because he's the doctor and knows best, but I think removing the implant and lowering my tip to fit the new height of my nose would've been the best option. I wanted to see the size of the silicone before my surgery, but I didn't get to see it. Now, I'm just patiently waiting for my cast removal day to see the results. I'm going to stay positive and hopefully, my bridge isn't high when they remove my cast next week.

I forgot to mention that Joy took her time to explain Dr. Kim's schedule to me and why it was so hard to schedule me in when I went for my consultation. Dr. Kim has a very busy schedule right now, but I'm thankful they were able to fit me in and take good care of me as always. Their customer service is one of the reasons why I always recommend them to my friends.

A few of you guys messaged about my revision. Sorry I couldn't respond right away. I've been super stressed and I broke down yesterday. I spent the Korean holiday in my apartment crying and trying to understand how I allowed myself to get in the same situation TWICE. I didn't want to come on here too soon since I'm still recovering. I consider myself to be a mentally strong person. I didn't cry at all after my primary surgery, but I'm feeling so much regret and I don't even know what I want to do next and my recovery time is limited. I also feel like I just went through all of this for no reason!

I felt very safe going into surgery because Dr. Kim is an extremely safe doctor. After my surgery, Joy helped me go downstairs and waited until my taxi came to pick me up (so sweet). The night of my surgery was okay. My surgery was at 6pm so I was super hungry when I got home. I had some rice, soup, and fruit and went to bed. I slept pretty well because Dr. Kim only put the gauze inside of my left nostril. As usual, I removed the gauze that was in my left nostril the next day, got an antibiotic shot, and dealt with swelling for a few days. I didn't have much bruising, but I have a big one under my left eye which looks like a black eye. Of course, it doesn't want to go away lol.

I got my nose cast and stitches removed on day 6 because of the holiday. Again, I was shocked when I saw my nose! I was mindful that I'd have some swelling right after the cast removal, but since this was my second time going through this... I knew what to expect. I feel like my breathing got better with this surgery and Dr. Kim did an amazingggggg job with the lateral osteotomy. My nose bone wasn't wide anymore and I was completely in love with it! My bridge on the other hand is straight and blunt, but it does look lower than before. BUT guysssss! You should see my radix! It is higher than before with less swelling. I'm actually quite confused as to how this happened. So during my consultation, I repeatedly said I wanted my bridge lowered, but I mentioned over and over how the upper middle part of my nose (the area in between my eyes) called the radix is what bothered me most! I hated how fake it looked, it made my eyes look closer together and changed my overall face. I wanted my radix to be as low as my original height and that's why I was leaning towards the implant removal. I thought I had a high radix, to begin with. I'm extremely honest about these things. I had really high hopes because I don't know how many times I said I wanted to fix this and be done. I hate having to keep going back to the clinic, I hate wasting my vacation time doing nothing, I hate missing out on exploring and spending time with my loved ones because I'm hiding out in my apartment. I really wanted to be happy with this result so I could get back to my daily routine, but instead, I'm stuck at home researching how people looked after removing their nose implant and crying my eyes out because I feel so stuck. I'm not sure if there was a reason he had to place the silicone so far up my radix? maybe it's this pronounced because I already had a decent radix? I'm not sure, but I've compared my bridge to a few other people who's had a 1 mm implant and my radix was WAY higher than all of them after their cast removal. I'm not gonna lie, I'm really sad and upset right now. The clinic's favorite thing to say is "don't worry, it's because of swelling." I fell for that the first time, but not this time around. Yes, the swelling will subside, but the radix will still be too high and still look unnatural. Don't get me wrong, the wrong he gave me is beautiful when it comes to Asian beauty standards, but that's not what I asked for. I don't think there will be any updates after this one, but I'll be sure to update this thread if anything positive comes out of this experience.

Here are some pictures: The 1st one is the side few of my before bridge and radix, the 2nd one is the front view of my radix, the 3rd one was my radix a year later. I told Dr. Kim I hated how high it looked.

Here are some post revision pictures: There's a little swelling, but not a lot. There is no curve at my radix and it is really high.

In order for me to be happy, I would like to get rid of that high radix by any means. Even if that means I have to remove the implant and lower my nose tip. If you know anyone who was in a similar situation as me or could offer any advice, please leave a comment or send me a pm. Thank you!

I don't want to invalidate your feelings, because I know how hard it must be to not like your result after a revision, but I really think your post-revision nose looks great. Your radix honestly doesn't look that high at all from the full side pic and maybe only slightly high from the 45 degree angle pic. I would be careful about undergoing another rhinoplasty since the more you do, the higher likelihood for a major, irreversible complication. For example, I've almost never seen a 5th revision look good. I know it would be your third, but it means that you would have far less wiggle room when you get older and the nose begins to change with age to get a revision.

It seems the risks might outweigh any benefits since your current revision post-op looks really good and is probably many people's desired look. I know it's frustrating you didn't get exactly what you wanted, but I think what you got is still pretty good and is balanced with your features. And as the swelling goes down, it will look even more balanced than it currently does (which is already very good)!

Stay strong sis!!!

Thank you for the positive feedback. I for one do not want to keep getting revisions, which is why I really wanted my doctor to get it right this time around. I thought I made myself completely clear, but I guess not. While I do respect your opinion, I think my radix is EXTREMELY high and it has completely changed the way I look. There is absolutely no curve at my radix. Plus how do you know it balances with my features if all you could see is my nose? Unless you've seen me from the clinic, you wouldn't know anything about my other features since I've covered them for privacy reasons.

At this point, I don't want much done and never did. I asked to remove the implant and was told the 1mm would be low enough to give me the look that I desired, but it looks like I will end up with the same high radix that I had before. This nose might be a lot of people's desired look, but it's not mine and I'm the one who has to wake up and look at it every day. No one want's to go through a revision for no reason and that's basically what I just went through.

Again, thanks for the positive feedback and for trying to make me feel better.
