Must-have (but maybe unexpected) items in your handbag

I watched this video awhile back on items every person should carry in their handbag, and discovered some really awesome things that I now find useful (like a handbag light and a portable handbag hook)!

What do you carry that may be unusual or unexpected?

Mini bags are my preference, so couldn’t possibly carry all this junk, but a folding hand fan is useful, depending on the season. Nowadays a mask, a pair of nitrile gloves, and sanitizing wipes are good to have.

I'm surprised at how much people think is essential. I can't imagine using dry shampoo when I'm out. I used to carry a lot more than I used to, but never once considered dry shampoo.

Most of my purse items are various types of wallets to carry cash, coins, credit cards, ID, insurance cards, rewards cards, and coupons. Sunglasses, lip moisturizer, dental floss, medicine, eye drops are usually in there. My keychain has a flashlight on it.

When I'm going to be out for an extended time I carry a water bottle.

I used to carry a Swiss Army knife. I recently got this neat Swiss Army card. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001Y7XUT6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It fits into my wallet. It's a little thicker than a credit card but the same size. Look at all the tools it has!

A taser would be nice. Years ago I carried pepper spray.
I too, carry a Swiss Army card! Mine is the red one! Every time I bring it out, people are shook  Got one as a present for quite a few of my older relatives back home and they're so happy to carry them in their purses, it's so handy! Makes a lovely useful present.

I carry a personal alarm with me, it makes me feel safer as I live in a big city. I've also always carried things like hand sanitizer, wipes etc. in my bag but I feel like now it's in most people's bags anyway. And I'd never leave the house without some type of pain killers, no matter how tiny my purse is, there's nothing worse than being caught outside with a horrible migraine and not being able to take anything to help.

I love Shea Whitney!! Anyway, I have 2 hooks in my bag currently and it’s a must have everytime. One is the purse hanger and the other one is a hook where I can hook my groceries or anything I need to carry in the bus with me.

Besides the hooks, my must-haves are my train card (we call it octopus here in HK where you can tap almost everywhere.. bus, groceries, convenient stores, etc), lipstick or a lip balm, nail cutter, face powder (compact with mirror) and hkid.

that’s what I normally carry when I use a small bag. That’s why mini bags are a no-no for me. Can’t seem to less it down anymore...

When my kids were younger, I carried a travel size roll of toilet paper.

My one must have is my stun gun. I actually have 2. One is really big so I keep it next to my bed. The mini one goes in my purse. Everything else is basic-keys, card case, make-up bag filled with stuff that I don’t like floating in my bag, hand sanitizer, a pouch with my mask inside, earbuds, charger and cord, phone, an extra mask (one broke on me one time so I carry 2), sunglasses drawstring pouch, and a card with my sizes listed.

This.

I've never once needed a Band-Aid or dry shampoo while out and about. I think the only things from her list that I carry daily are sanitizer, phone, and mints.

A hand towel! I started carrying one when I was in Japan for vacation 6 years ago. It's come in handy a couple times since then.
In the same vein, I've been obsessed with handkerchiefs lately. I'm looking for monogrammed ones at a decent price.
