So, moving furniture from one town to another is difficult, but transporting an entire bag collection, that's tough work! I have a little red Grand Prix, and it was STUFFED with bags! In the backseat I had my Hamptons Tote, Bleecker Tote, Birkin, Chelsea, XL Lily, and Michael Kors. In the front seat I had Thompson Carryon, and Transatlantic Tote, with accessories and BF's Transatlantic Messenger, on the floor!

Does anyone else have crazy bag moving tales to share?

Welllll...I just recently moved, and I have a convertible. I had to put the TOP DOWN, load up all my bags, and close the top back. They took up one entire car load all on their own! :laugh:

Dude, we moved last summer, and I was SO worried about moving my bag collection!! I freaked out every time we had a showing on our old house, because I insanely thought that somehow, potential buyers were going to be able to swipe my bags. LOL! I felt so relieved when I finally got them all safe and sound in the new house!

Yeah, I wish I still had my convertible Jeh, it would have been soooo much easier! I don't know what I'm going to do the next time I move, when I have more bags!

I'm lucky wcofer, we just moved out of an apartment, but I know exactly how you feel!

HA HA, badgegirl, yes I entertained the idea of buckling them in! It's been so snowy here that I was afraid that I'd get in a wreck!

My last move was in 2003 and that was before my bag collection blossomed. I probably had 2 nice bags then and just took them with me in the car behind the rental moving truck.

:smile1:Wow just the thought of moving a handbag collection makes me nervous:nuts:. Thanks to all TPF members for sharing your moving stories I can prepare myself if I ever have to move my collection.

I haven't moved out yet, but I've been fearing to transport my bag collection when the time comes. I have 35 and would sell 5 of them, and hopefully, I'll be able to by the time it's time to move. Even then, I'll have 30 left. Even then, that's too much! I think what I'll do is put bags in other bags! Like, I'll take the slouchy bags that do not get bent out of shape and put them in the relatively large structured bags and if it calls for it, put the slouchies in other slouchies and small structured bags in large ones.

OMG Do Not Let the packers pack your bags! or your shoes for that matter.

I ask for a separate box for certain items and photo everything I do. I pack my own box with my bags, a separate box for my shoes and mark the box fragile do not crush or stack on bottom in big black lettering.

Movers don't care and toss them in a big box, same with shoes.

I wish I had been able to put them in my car. We moved across country, so I had to trust them to a moving van. I was not happy about it, but they all made it safe and sound.

Oh yeah, major pain! I put mine in plastic storage containers and taped them up real good and had the movers move them for me! I was following them the whole way to my new place so it was all safe and sound lol! I took my most favorite bags with me in my car haha!
