^^I saw the movie yesterday and the Jige Elan look fantastic! Suede and another leather? I am in love with the color!!! The birkins looked so...empty. They were tightly closed with nothing in them...

The bags were beautiful but one thing I didn't like is the fact that Hermes bags were being used as props to help portray these people as rather empty and materialistic.
But I tried to look beyond that and just enjoy the bags.

JIGE is a doblis combo. I have looked at these. Always worry the suede will not hold up to all the handling of a "hand held" but may have to rethink this.
IMO the Hermes was used because it is a very FRENCH brand and this movie is set in Paris. I think the bags were placed as just another symbol that is representative of France.

In the new Transformers Movie, Frances Mcdormand's character specifically asks her assistant for a green ostrich Birkin but was handed a green Kelly instead.

Yeah I saw that too! I see I posted it in the wrong thread by accident (I posted it in the Hermes in TV shows thread instead):

I went to see the new Transformers movie tonight and there's this character in it who's really annoying - she's the director of some military agency. Anyway she starts giving out to her assistant to bring over the bag, and her assistant is like "which bag?" and holds up three and she snaps "Hermès BIRKIN, green ostrich" in a know-it-all voice.

Except it was not a Birkin, it was a Kelly!!!! If you are gonna use a product in a movie and then say the name, at least know the name of the product!!! :lecture: :lecture:

Just saw the movie today and looked for this thread to see if anyone posted that quote. Not only was it a kelly, it looked like a "stunt-double" kelly. :smile1:

The Kelly appeared in the movie looks like a 35cm vert bengale / vert claire swift Kelly with GHW. I was :wtf: when Mearing asked her assistant to bring her the "Hermes green ostrich Birkin" and what's shown is a Kelly (not even an exotic one!).....Guess the bag also got transformed :roflmfao:

I'm guessing that the director knew that lots of moms would be taking their kids to see Transformers and put the Hermes birkin/kelly language/visual in for us!! I guess we know that Frances McDormand doesn't know the difference between the two. It made me smile though.

I loved Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen!

The film features several H bags:

Jige Elan
Birkin X 2 (one Etoupe, one croc)
Travel HAC in Toile/leather combo
Travel Victoria in Toile/leather combo
Constance

Props Castorny! The movie was rather a snooze, but I had fun looking for the H thanks to you!

Totally loved Midnight in Paris (but am a Parisophile and a huge Woody Allen fan - perhaps not a great move to anyone else). And, he's just started using purses more specifically as part of character development (within the last 5 years the purses are much better portrayed - I don't think Annie Hall even has a purse!!!!)

Now - what I'm wondering (please help me out) is what bag Carla Bruni had in the scene where she translates the diary.

Can anyone point in the right direction?

As far as the transformers movie. I'm glad it came up here. I started a thread...but did not know this one existed. I just hope people don't leave getting kellys/birkins mixed up.

It seems as though H is following through every movie I watch!
