I just got my first bag in 10 years this year and I’m now shopping for my next wallet.
Either the Men’s multiple, slender or the victorine. Between them they come in almost every material. So I ask in your experience which is the most durable material for an LV wallet? Which materials are just not going to 10 years of daily use (my plans for this wallet)?

For the record I’m most interested in canvas w leather lining, Monogram Empreinte (I have concerns about durability and flattening of the hotstamps), Vernis (I haven’t heard anything the durability), Epi and taiga.

My current wallet is canvas with leather lining.

Do you want a George Costanza-thick wallet? If so, the Multiple is what you should get. It's gigantic.

In terms of material, I'd get canvas or Epi. Both are very hardy.
LOL I don’t know what you mean? Is that a reference?

The size seems slightly bigger than my Insolite mini. But it’s hard to tell sometimes till you actually fill it up.

Agree. Canvas is just superb, and when it comes to Vuitton leather Èpi is the most durable. Empreinte and Taïga are way softer (not to mention Infini or Shadow).
Darn! That Victorine in Empreinte looks and feel stunning but that’s now, I really need something that’s still going look great in 10 years.

George Costanza was a character on Seinfeld, and one of the episodes involved his GIGANTIC wallet.

Before I got any Louis Vuitton wallets, I always thought I would get the Multiple. When I finally started really looking at them, I realized that the Multiple is just...no. Way, way, way too big and bulky. Even without anything in it, it's huge. I can't imagine using it and liking it once it started to fill up.

I agree with all the ladies about the monogram wallets. I still use my mono French and porte tresor wallets. They are all over 10+ years old. My vernis and empreinte wallets look beat now. My empreinte wallet is only a couple years old.

Yikes! Ok. I guess I’ll stick w canvas. I don’t know the victorine canvas doesn’t look as good. Maybe I’ll feel different when I see it again. Might go w the slender instead.

Canvas is the most durable. Next up is Epi if you want full leather. I love Empreinte but it’s embossing fades over some time. I would never touch Vernis with a 10 foot pole unless you opt for dark colour, else risk discoloration.

Yes I was looking at the black or dark purple but if the embossing fades on the Empreinte it’ll likely also fade on the Vernis right?

Ah ok. I don’t remember that show much. I mean it’s not any bigger than like the sarah or any of the other big wallets. It is the largest of the compact wallets but it’ll fit in the speedy 30 and the district mm so it’s not a thing I’m concerned about.

My daughter has the Victorine wallet and she loves it. She got the DA one with the ballerine leather inside. We picked it up in Paris and it’s beautiful.

Definitely nothing vernis for everyday use! Once stained, it stays there!
I like empreinte, flattening of the embossing doesn’t really bother me, I’ve used my pink zoe for one year straight and it still looks perfect. Only just switched out of it because of my current obsession with Dior.
That being said, for 10 years of daily use, nothing beats canvas or epi! Just consider whether you want something more pliable (canvas) or structured (epi)
