I own a MK in yellow. I bought it last summer. I suppose it is not such an "impressive brand" as if you wear Hermes, Chanel or Dior . MK are luxury but not too expensive. You can look perfect with a MK . I would call it a "medium luxury brand". On the other hand, wearing expensive bags to work, for example, could be...even risky? If you wear a 35 cm Hermes Birkin, you have 8000 € in your hand! And I've read that prices are higher in USA!Right now in Central Texas (between Houston and Austin) it's Michael, Michael, Michael (said in a Brady Bunch voice)
Michael Kors is the king of Texas. Holy cow. But I would say 60% the styles tier of MK that you will find in, like, TJ Maxx. Second place is Coach, but 95% Coach Factory, almost no top tier Coach, and 90% of the factory you see is siggy not leather.
After that, you see lots of LV but only canvas styles, mostly Speedy & Neverfull, probably 60% monogram, 30% Damier Ebene, 10% other (azur, etc). About half is fake.
Then Gucci, 99.9 % fake. There must be a flea market Gucci stall here.
Then Dooney, Dooney is big in Texas. Kate Spade and Tory Burch and Fossil probably round it out.
I suspect no one might even have HEARD of Celine or Balenciaga here. I have never seen a wild Dior/Hermes/YSL/Fendi etc. Not even fake. Just a handful of Chanel, all black, all quilted, all fake.
But mostly people seem to avoid real designer here except LV & Gucci. It's almost all contemporary. But seriously, these people here are going to start wrapping their cars and stenciling the driveway in MK pretty soon. Urrrg. ( I don't hate MK, no)
In Washington, DC the LV reigns supreme among the premier brands. For everyday wear, I see a lot Dooneys and MKs on the streets. The professional environment here is the opposite of showy, and for the most part, if you own an Hermes for example, you wouldn't wear that to the office.
There are always exceptions, of course. Chanel has a strong showing in the evenings and weekends, and I loved spying a Givenchy Antigona at my studio this morning.
Is it that easy to tell that the bags are fakes?Right now in Central Texas (between Houston and Austin) it's Michael, Michael, Michael (said in a Brady Bunch voice)

Generally yes, if it’s a brand you’re familiar with.Is it that easy to tell that the bags are fakes?
In Manhattan, every other person has one! In the train, park, grocery, coffee shop...Question - am I correct in assuming that people are answering this question as "the most common 'designer' bag seen" as opposed to "the most common bag"? I can't imagine seeing six neverfulls in a grocery store.
I live in NYC and I see a LOT of Goyard totes and a quite a few Chanel Flaps. It's either Goyard or Chanel
Specifically around the UES.
When I spot another brand bag I get excited. Oh look it's NOT another one.
I'm in Pittsburgh and I ditto what you'e seen...mostly LV monogram, MK and Coach...fair amount of Burberry and the odd Chloe, Celine, Chanel. Never seen a Dior here though. Only seen Hermes at the airport. Im in NYC frequently and well, definetly you see way, way more. Im.itching to try a Goyard...super rare here!I love a short drive from Pittsburgh, PA and I mostly see LV ( authentic), some Coach and MK. I've also seen BV, Stella McCartney and Chloe at the grocery store. At business evening events I have seen classic Chanel flaps. At formal events I've seen Judith Lieber clutches, Valentino too. All in all, I'd say there's a pretty good. Is of designer and contemporary bags. I have carried a Chanel Cerf tote, GST, many LV canvas as well as LV leather bags, Chloe Marcie and my medium Lady Dior. I've never spotted another LD, so mine is the only one.
It' incredible how common Goyard and Chanel is in NYC...in Pittsburgh...they are rare...but every1 n their mama has a NFAgreed! It's like a 'uniform'!!! No doubt they are beautiful, gorgeous bags- just too 'ordinary' here!!!
