I am looking to get my sister a bag for her milestone birthday (30) and am wondering which bag you think I should get her? I have narrowed it down to the above 2 because she has a chic style with an edgy twist and she doesn't own anything from either of these brands yet. She currently owns an Antigona and a couple Celine. The monster Fendi line is so cute (I think I may want one for myself!) and the City is classic Balenciaga. Which would you choose and why?

Sorry I posted this thread before it was completed and I can't edit, the bags are the Fendi Monster tote vs Balenciaga Large City. It is also in the Fendi thread but I figure I would get more opinions here. TIA!
Between the two, I'd get the Bal. The monster Fendi is adorable but "trendy" -- absolutely awesome, no doubt, but still "of the moment." The Bal might have more "staying power." Hope this helps!

Are you considering the Roll Tote from Fendi?

Based on her preference of Celine bags and the Antigona, I'm assuming that she prefers more structured bags with clean lines, so I suggest going for the Fendi.

The Balenciaga is a classic, but I'm not sure that it would suit her style as much, given that is has a distressed look and is rather slouchy. Has she always wanted a Balenciaga City before?

I have a Monster Tote and a Bal Town. I really like them both but I use my Monster Tote ALOT more. It is a great everyday work bag for me but easily transitions to casual weekends. Very sleek and steamlined.......Fun and fresh but still professional. I feel that my Bal is a more casual bag. HTH:flowers:

Good luck with your decision......what a thoughtful Sister you are!

I think the bal would be easier to match, like if she had to bring this to a work setting it's better than the monster. Plus the monster bag looks like a very plain tote which every brand has.

The Fendi I was considering is this one:

My sister seems to prefer more structured bags in general but she told me that she likes the edgy style of Balenciaga so I think it would be a bag she would enjoy. On the other hand the Fendi is a pretty awesome bag  and it would fit her style as well. My only concern with the Fendi would be the longevity of the style and whether it would be out of fashion soon. Do you think the Fendi will look dated? I don't want to spend so much on it if that is the case but the monster line seems to be very popular and sell out very quickly from the looks of it. I don't know too much about the brand tbh.

I just recently bought a Fendi "By the Way" bag and so far I'm absolutely loving it. It's my first bag from the brand and I think the quality is lovely!

That said, if she likes the edgy style of the Balenciaga, this could be the kind of bag that she loves but would never buy for herself, but absolutely LOVE if it was given to her as a gift! :)

You ARE thoughtful!!! :)

I think that the Balenciaga is a safer option to get her because she told you that she likes it.

I do like the Fendi a lot more, but I think that you should get your friend something that you know for sure she will like.

Now if you are getting the bag for yourself, I would recommend the Fendi.
