I just received my beloved Black Reissue 226 back from Modern Leather in NYC and I am so upset at the amount of damage they caused to the bag. I am waiting for them to address these issues, but I promise that I will never send them anything ever again. I chose them because of previous TPF reviews and the convenience of being in my area. They also advertise as certified for Chanel repairs, like they are expert craftsmen with handling chanel purse repairs.

It arrived back with globs of glue on the leather. They were supposed to restitch the back flap which was loose and it came back with 17 stitches and knots on the right side, rather than the 2 neat stitches. They even left the thread uncut.

They restructured my purse and in the process they ripped the interior back lining and left it open!

The hardware twist clasp was assembled wrong and it creeks when you twist it. They also badly chipped the paint from the black flap pocket zipper pull.

And when they reinstalled the front flap hardware plate, the screws are not flush. The screws stick out so far they can cut you. They no longer fit, so someone attempted to force them in and you can see they are almost stripped. One screw is not even gold...it's silver.

I am waiting now for them to tell me how they will address the situation.

Not to be overly skeptical but are you sure this is your bag? It's a horrible thought but could they have kept yours and sent you another in worse condition?
If this is your bag then I'm really sorry and hope they make it right.

I wish that were the case, but I recognize these reissue wrinkles as my beloved purse. Thanks so much for the support. I'll keep everyone in the loop.

I'm shocked. I have nothing to say that can help, except you're quite right to feel very upset, that 'work' is shoddy. I really hope you reach a satisfactory resolution.
Thank you! I'm trying to figure out if I should even let them attempt to fix the repairs or if I should just ask for the value of the purse and reimbursement for the work. What would you do?

Cut your losses while you are ahead of the game. JMO
I'd ask for the value of the purse as well as reimbursement for the work.
You have to tell them WHAT YOU WANT in a cool, calm & professional manner because
you don't know if they will offer anything beyond a re-do.
Be FIRM.. this is unacceptable & my concern is how much could they actually improve the repair
from how it is looking now..

I appreciate all the feedback and support from everyone. I spoke with the owner and I am waiting for them to fully assess the damage. I plan to ask to be compensated for the value of the purse and seek reimbursement of the approx 704 dollars I paid for services. Let's see what happens. This is an established business in NYC and they are family owned and operated. I am trying to be optimistic about them making me whole and doing the right thing. Wish me luck, dears!
