Is this what kids get up to these days?! Whatever happened to slam books and playing Mario Kart at your friend's house? Damn. I must have been a stone cold nerd. ;)

I find it extra gross that they're calling it "lifting" or "lifters" to disguise that they are plain stealing - like giving it a more neutral name removes the stigma. Kind of like those "Ana" and "Mia" eating disorder encouragement sites. They are THIEVES!

Check out this girl. Over $47,700 "saved" (terminology they use) should def put her in felony category...

One of the "lifters" was obviously a Korean girl- she had a few thousands "saved" and was into it enough that she carried a hook and a magnet for "detagging" purpose. And since I am also Korean it made me want to... I don't know. Just reach across the screen and shake her. I almost registered just so that I could write to her. That you can have ALL this and MUCH MORE if you worked at it. But I knew it wouldn't get through her head. Only a minority of them seem to get scared off of it after getting caught. The rest of them- if they are under 18 they're getting it erased once 18 anyway so they don't care, if they are over you already got a record now so what's one more? One said she actually got more into it after she got caught :censor:

What's scary is some of these girls seem to come from affluent families too. If I had a daughter like this... ugh!

I used to know affluent girls in my high school years who would steal/lift/whatever they call it, because they simply could. Or that they weren't "getting enough" allowance to new wardrobes weekly. So they'd go into F21 and simply take any sensors and tags off somehow and change into their new wardrobe.

________

"Saved" money my arse. You wanna save money, you bargain hunt and coupon. Not steal. And these fluffy words to remove the stigma is terrible. They are thieves, plain and simple.

Then again, to them we're just haters and they're just victims despite being one of many reasons there's a million sensors on everything and prices continue to rise.

ETA: And anyone who likes the MK Selma, carry your bag with pride.

Oh goodness!!!
What is wrong with such people?!
I didn't know much about this "culture" despite the big news back then about the bling ring breaking and stealing from celebs...
But it literally seems to be a sub culture!!!! Sickening!
These people have some way deeper issues than just the stealing itself. I feel sorry for them.
