Found this on the net, but can't find the first handbag collection.
Two years later, Marc Jacobs ventured out, and designed his first clothing collection bearing the Marc Jacobs label. Do you guys think there was actually one bag that was the first or are we thinking about the first collection?

MARY: You're surrounded by women like Sofia Coppola and Kim Gordon, who have such great style. Do they serve as muses in any way?
MARC: I think of many people and no one as a muse. I love the way Sofia looks always, and I love the way Kim looks always. Fashion may be part of their world, but it's not their whole life. It's not everything. Sofia is so active, and she made The Virgin Suicides, which I thought was great ... all these things are inspiring to me, not in terms of creating a particular dress, but just in terms of knowing that there is this type of woman out there.
I'm probably barking up the wrong tree, but I wonder now if the Sophia was in the first collection?
I have searched the net and I can find lots of references to the 2000 handbag collection, but I can't find any pictures or style names.

^I was under the impression that the black buckle front Sofia I have is from the very first season. It has black suede interior instead of pink.

I believe the Venetia was the first MJ bag produced for sale, followed very closely by the Sofia -- the Stella wasn't introduced immediately but was part of the first FULL collection -- some of the early styles were very unusual and are no longer in production -- some of them were made of canvas with leather accents, while others were lined with leather -- every once in a while, one will come across on ebay -- I've posted a few of them, but they're never very popular
