Tonight my SA texted me that she had a MPA (yay) and I immediately head to the store. All looks good so I take it. On the way home I realize she never showed me the gold chain strap. I get home and sure enough it’s not in the box! I text her about it and she says she’ll have to do a repair order for it. Hunh? Do you think she purposefully sold me a MPA with a missing strap?

Did you check inside one of the bags? That’s where mine was when I received mine today.
Yes :) I bought it in the store….shouldn’t she have checked to ensure everything was there when she packaged it up? I thought maybe she just forgot to put it in the box but then she says she would need to order it so it almost seems like she knew it was missing. Idk maybe it was just an oversight on her part.

I could understand why you feel it’s suspicious. I would have similar sentiments too. As it’s quite unlikely the item would be missing from the MPA pouches as they are always stored inside them when not on display.

Would it be devious to demand that they send the chain immediately as it should in the bag and any existing MPA stock should prioritize giving you the chain first rather than selling?
I think you are being nice to your SA to wait for the “repair order” (which still has its merits, because next time your SA might be more willing to bend over for you should you want to order extra straps of any other bags which you don’t currently own, maybe). I wouldn’t think it’s wrong of you to “demand” the chain too because they sold you an incomplete set. Btw, repair order, does it mean you need to pay for the non-existence chain which they missed out in the first place?

It’s one thing to lose it due to your own fault, it’s another when it comes incomplete.I mean everything would be better if it was discovered in store together rather than after you reach home. However, LV may not have sold you the bag in the first place if the set was incomplete. They are quite firm about such things. I remember pointing out the black Coussin PM’s chain was full of scratches at the interlocking part and they took it down and had other Coussin PM in that store. But they would not exchange another chain from another Coussin colour even though I expressed interest in getting the black one. I had to go to another store to get the black Coussin.

I should have asked to see the chain but truth be told I won’t use it and so was more concerned with inspecting the other parts to ensure they met quality. Honestly, I’m SHOCKED it was sold to me without the chain and that she believes it’s not even at the store (she’s going to check tomorrow). Had she made a mistake and just forgot to put it in the box I could understand….but for it to be available for sale without anyone checking to ensure it was all complete is so strange. And of course, I kinda freaked out when I got home and found out bc I didn’t want them to think I was trying something underhanded. this is such an awful predicament.

You clearly don't trust your SA, otherwise you would not be asking this question.
It is unlikely that the chain that goes with your bag is lying loose somewhere.
If it turns up, you would have every right to let your imagination run riot with suspicions.
You should return to the store immediately - please don't say it would be difficult, because you were able to respond to the text 'immediately' - and if the outcome you want is nit immediately forthcoming ask to speak to a manager.
What outcome do you want:
a strap to complete the bag that should be expedited and available within days;
a complete new bag;
a full refund?
There is no way that a credit note should ever be considered.

That’s really strange. I mean a whole chain strap is missing? Usually the SA inspects the item before handing it out.
However I’ve and similar experiences, when I’ve repaired my Métis. They did the flap new and when I’ve got her back I’ve didn’t checked it in the store. At home then the shock came when the glazing had a big strange stripe on the side of the bag.. it was super annoying but going again to the store and again let it repair was just too much fuss.
Maybe they got it from Paris already without the chain strap, which could happen. Otherwise I would have return the bag, and get myself another one from other store or online. You really are patient to wait for it :)

How coincident! I ordered the monogram pochette accessoires from online 2 weeks ago and it came with missing strap also! I called customer service and they told me to send an email with pics to care service (where they do repairs) to see if they can send me the missing strap or give me options. I’m still waiting to hear back from them.

I recently bought a MPA too and honestly wouldn’t be using the chain as well. But the chain is part of what you paid for. In any case, what if you wish to sell it in future and the buyer would ask for it too. I totally get the point where you feel they might suspect you of crying wolf as there isn’t any “witness”.

Considering the fact that if you had purchase it online and came without the chain, you would make a similar complaint too and they have to take your word for it as well. Honestly, I’m sure your excellent track record with LV’s account would enlighten them that you are not being greedy trying to score “another free chain” and it’s an honest mistake “somewhere in LV”.

But what pictures are they expecting? It would just be “strapless”. And you gonna take the pictures of the pochettes only. It’s different from defects. You see the difference. Anybody could just take a picture of the pochette alone too. Sometimes I feel it’s :confused1:

I just want the strap :) I’ll likely never use it but as much as we pay for these things I’d like it to be complete.

I’ve never used this SA before. It’s not that I don’t ‘trust’ her, I guess I’m just disappointed. And I really don’t have the time to be going back there today. It only happened that she contacted me in early evening and I was on my way out to the grocery after work but decided LV was the more important trip (and I knew I couldn’t get there for another couple of days) :) I’ll wait to see how she handles it today (she’s supposed to contact me about next steps) and if it’s not resolved satisfactorily I’ll take the trip back.

I’m sorry this happened to you too! 2 weeks and you still haven’t heard back? That’s unacceptable. I’ve always had good experiences with LV but hearing something like that leaves a bad impression. And if my situation isn’t resolved appropriately I may leave the brand. For as much as they’re charging lately I expect excellent service.

It’s frustrating that we have to check every little thing. I’m not very picky but some of the defects and QA issues I see on this site are shocking for a luxury brand. And I shouldn’t have to double check that my CA did her job before I left the store. If it had been a simple mistake of her forgetting to put it in the box that would be annoying but understandable ….selling me a bag without all the parts is just not the level of service I expect from LV. But I guess shame on me for not inspecting every single thing before I left.

I bought the WT Speedy 30 back in 2018 and it arrived with the wrong strap parts (I got two middle sections and one end instead of two ends and one middle). I literally had to chase them for weeks and they kept fobbing me off and saying they didn't have the strap in stock (I mean, I know WT is special order but ffs it was a plain black strap!). I ended up having to return the whole bag for a refund as they could not offer me a replacement strap. Crazy.
