Mini Kelly vs Kelly 25

I have a K25 and consider it a daytime bag.

If I want a clutch, I use my BBK longue wallet as a clutch. It fits my iPhone and cards, and antibacterial wipes. mainly bc I already own it and bc at 17 ounces empty, it’s too heavy for a wallet. If I want more capacity, I have a medor 29. I also have a flat silver chèvre clutch by Hermes in a discontinued style in case I want something metallic. And I also have a vintage matte croc chaine d’ancre bag that can act as a clutch. But, I’m not really a fancy black tie person (which in my mind calls for a fancy minaudiere or satin clutch). I have occasionally been tempted by a satin BV stretch knot. But never got around to buying one.

I go back and forth re the merits of a mini K. My SA thinks that in the right combo, it might work for me, but I think that on a person over average build, it can look like a toy bag.
My mind went to the BV knot clutch as well for op's needs, much more elegant black tie appropriate imo.

Practically and probably more appropriately for your needs, I would advise a K25 which would really be better cost per wear for many other occasions and simultaneously decide on one beautiful small clutch for real Black Tie events. I personally do not think Hermes makes any really suitable clutches for very formal events even though I do own a few clutch styles and actually carry my K25s and MKs the most. Some rarer exceptions might be the exotic beaded and embroidered Kelly Pouchettes but those are really rather rare. Looking forward to your decision and subsequent reveals. :-)

This is exactly what I was thinking of, the Knot, and is one of the few non-H bags I own in multiples, for exactly these events (although some don't fit certain phones!). The Mini K really only goes to an event if there's a slight funkiness to the style vibe IYKWIM., and I don't think it would work if it were not Noir in a glossy leather.

I am a fan of the BV satin knot clutch and do have that on my radar for “super” black tie events.

Thanks for that feedback! I would also consider a Kelly pochette but it not having a strap is my only hesitation. Which thinking about it, if I’m wearing the bag to events and dinners not having a shoulder strap isn’t a huge negative as a handheld bag would honestly look better than a shoulder bag with the style of dress I would be wearing. Would be interested in seeing a size comparison of a Kelly pochette vs a Kelly 25.
I have the Kelly pouchette and I use a gold chain under the flap to hang it on the back of a chair for evening. I find the handle on the mini sometimes just too big.

I think mini Kellys look divine with long dresses, Kelly pochette also works well, but you need to think of the dress first, style colour etc and then get the bag to suit. I realise it's difficult with Hermes but most of the time a custom clutch in coordinated satin will look more elegant. check this out too: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/do-you-have-an-hermes-clutch-life.1021484/page-14 custom clutches are not as expensive as one might think. I posted a link a while back of where you can get them made - let me see if I can find it.
