And they live together- it would be a big move for him to walk away from her with finality. But believe me, if the man is sane, I'm sure he's thought about leaving her, and just hasn't done it after weighing the possibilities. It's no different than someone opting to stay in an unhealthy marriage- they just don't want to take on the headache of taking that first step and disentangling themselves from a person they've been affiliated with for a long time. It's more complicated than just ending a relationship; there are factors that go beyond just their emotional relationship, if that makes sense. External stuff, like leases, bills, assets, etc. Even though they aren't technically married yet, they must own a lot of things together.
Honestly, I think he should find it within himself to disenfranchise his good name from the likes of Miley- she's embarassing and it's inevitable that his identity is associated with hers. Who knows? Her raunchy behavior could potentially harm his possibility of getting certain acting roles, as a consequence of his reputation being tarnished by association with hers.
