So, when I see large studs in people’s ears, I generally assume they are fake. I only say that to assuage your fears that you would be in anyway fraudy if you were to get labs.

Secondly, I don’t have any labs, don’t know much about them, but I would be open to learning for earrings with that big a price difference, given how prone they are to being lost.

So, for a self present that you have no intention of selling, my suggestion would be to go in to a jeweller who uses labs and learn about them and see they in person. However, if you don’t feel like Snow White with the birds and animals singing when you try them on then don’t get them as you will regret them.

Wow, thank you all for your input!! Seems like a pretty divided crowd which is how I’m feeling.

On the one hand: they are a staple, forever jewelry piece, and I’ll feel uncomfortable with labs so I should fork over the $$$ for mined

On the other: why pay so much for something I can’t even see on myself all the time and instead save a bit to get the exact same product, just from a lab

I’m still going to sleep on it for a few more weeks, but I think it probably does make sense to wait until I have a clearer idea of what I want. Thank you all for your input! I’ll provide updates if there are any to share!

It's just a matter of preference. If you have extra money it's worth it but if there's more important bills to prioritize then you can always wait. Goodluck and take care.

I am in the same position as you are with earrings for a big birthday. I was eyeing a pair of $24K earrings and was all ready to buy them until I realized that I could get lab grown for $2K and then also buy a new handbag and a watch for the same $24K. So three items rather than one. I am posting a picture of the earrings I had made (3/4 carat cushion cut) lab grown as I think they do the job. I wanted small, every day, and that is what these are (I don't like studs on my ears). I am on the fence about them because I know they are not mined and they are lab. I love them, and do wear them daily, but I don't "respect" them as much as I would if they were mined. There is just no getting around that. Still going to buy that bag and watch and will continue to wear these for another year. Then I'll decide if I want to invest in the mined. Maybe by then I'll just be over it. Best of luck to you.
