That is what they told me at the factory store as well. They said the FP versions would never make it to the factory store as they are too popular in the full price stores, than about 2 months later I see a bag resembling the Hamilton at the factory store ( apparently the new factory store version).

I wasn't sure until yesterday what the obvious differences were.... it appears to be the hardware. I suppose they have to cut costs somewhere in order to justify the $100 difference in price. My store had them at full factory store price of $298, if I recall correctly.

Wonder how long before there is a quilted factory version.

The outlet version costs $298? Do they mark it down from there? It doesn't make sense because the FP Hamiltons are $268 or $298 (depending on size).

You're right, it doesn't make sense, but that's the case with many of the bags at the outlet. I have no idea how they work the markdowns. They have a 75% off section, but who knows how long it takes for a line to get marked down, and even if they will have that style left to get a chance for a markdown. If you happen to love the factory exclusive, they kinda have you by the balls.

And BEBEPURSE is spot on. It appears if a line is popular, a factory line gets created. So if the quilted Hamiltons do well, then we can probably expect to see them at the outlet.

I just wanted to make the point that all these outlet malls are not outlets in the true sense of outlets selling returns, slight defects. etc at discount prices. They are factory stores selling items made specifically for the factory stores and priced accordingly. It is a clever marketing giimmick that is catching on with the manufacturers. They are feeding off of what most people think /expect an outlet mall is supposed to be - deep discounts.

Yes, they do have some discounted stuff but not the stuff made specifically for the factory stores. (How do you explain how they are able to keep all their stores well stocked with the same items all over the country. It's not leftovers and defects etc.).

That is why the factory python Hamilton costs ($298) almost as much as the python boutique Hamilton ($348) - which is priced accordingly since the factory version has different hardware etc.

FYI I am not intending to knock factory versions just trying to point out that if you think you are getting a fantastic deal at the outlets - think again and consider shopping boutique/full price versions on sale.
(ie I got my python Hamilton for $258 on sale at Macy's)

^ ITA with you totally!!! And I'm not knocking MFF either. They have some gorgeous bags for sure. It's all about doing your homework to get a good deal.

To add to what you're saying-I was chatting with a woman at the MK factory store about how some of the bags were cheaper just a stroll away at Off 5th and Last Call. She remarked that many 'outlets' are geared to the foreign tourists as well. This may be true in our area, cuz Woodbury gets them bussed in. I would think that many of the outlet malls are in tourist-y areas. It could very well play into it, too.

I also think many SA's play dumb about the prices among other things. I asked why Macy's could have Laytons so much cheaper than the outlet and she feigned surprise and said she didn't know, and then she looked very uncomfortable. :thinkin: How could they NOT know that other retailers have their bags at a lot deeper discount?

can you start a thread and post pics of your python Hamilton??? I am dying to see it!!!!!!

My friend went to Buffalo this past Monday and saw the medium Hamilton there. She said it was $270 (if I rmb correctly) and there was additional 30% off... that's a crazy deal for those of use who lives in Canada. My mini cost me $250 +tax...

I have seen both. A few months ago my outlet had the actual regular line Hamiltons. However when I went back in Sept they were all gone and they only had the MFF ones. I don't really know the rhyme or reason because I don't really like to talk to the SAs there because several of them are very pushy.
