I see that jet set style in regular leather on MK site and at Macy's and other dept stores

Not quite. Macys has the Bedford tote listed as a Jet Set. Here's a link: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/...846#fn=sp=1&spc=88&slotId=13&kws=kors jet set

The Jet Set doesn't have 4 outside pockets like the Bedford does. If you look at the MK site, this same bag is listed as a Bedford. http://www.michaelkors.com/bedford-top-zip-leather-tote/_/R-US_30H4SBFT6L?No=22&color=0664

I prefer the sleek and simple look of the Jet Set. I don't like the 4 outside pockets of the Bedford. Also, the Jet Set is a little larger.

Thanks for the pics! Your analysis is very helpful. However...

Of course this is 100% deliberate. The company takes money from the boutique shopper and then takes money from the outlet shopper, fooling them into thinking they got a deal on a "luxury" handbag when in fact they bought an official knockoff of lower quality.

This is the reason why COACH and MK are struggling right now. It waters down the brand value to flood the market with "factory" versions of their bag. Why would I spend $600 on a bag at the boutique when I get almost the same bag for much cheaper at the outlet?
Yes, I totally agree. MK and Coach should have just stuck with their original luxury items and stayed away from the Outlet versions. It will be their demise.

I know most of us on TPF followed this judicial saga last spring and over the summer. I was wondering if any TPFers were a part of the class action lawsuit or thinking of pursuing a piece of the settlement.

+1, I got a Coach Kelsey Satchel at the outlet for less than $200 and it wasn't even a MFF item! It came from the FP boutique.

Before I found this forum, I was very much an uneducated consumer regarding these brands. For reference we don't have MK in the country I live in, and a Coach store only recently opened in the last few months.:shucks:

I thought an Outlet store carried last season merchandise, which is why I'd always pop in to buy a couple of bags on my travels. I wish I had known better, as now I realize that I wasn't getting as big a deal as I thought I was.

Thanks to all of you and this forum, I am much wiser these days and will be getting my next bag at a boutique or department store :smile1:

The Saks outlet store near me has one tiny table that holds a handful of banged-up display model pradas. That is the extent of bags coming from regular Saks. I think the rest of the handbags sold there are specifically supplied for outlet only. Ugly and of poor quality. I cringe whenever I see the Mario Valentinos and Ivanka Trumps.
