Prada's QC is really crappy these days.... i do feel it's mostly the price tag that keeps Prada in the Premier section. My Prada saffy's stitching is horrible, but I still think the leather itself is slightly better than the saffiano bags made by MK or Coach.

A couple of co-workers bought Pradas and I was surprised at the stitching quality and how one remarked that when she put something heavy in her bag, the seams widened to a dangerous degree. Rather have an MK bag then, at least I won't feel guilty using it as a work bag everyday.

The reason why I would not call MK a 'premier' designer is that it seems to copy or have very similar designs to other premier designers, for example, Prada's double zip tote (MK Sutton Satchel), Louis Vuitton's Totally tote (MK Jet Set Top Zip Tote), Louis Vuitton's Artsy (MK Skorpios).
To me, a premier designer would have a signature design that is distinctive and unique e.g. Celine, Hermes, Givenchy, Chanel, Balenciaga. When someone says Celine, you instantly think of the Celine luggage. Hermes - Birkin bag. Givenchy - Antigona. Chanel - classic flap etc.

This topic is very debatable but that's just my 2 cents. I know a lot of people might disagree or agree with me, I don't mean to cause trouble.

MK is a good brand with good quality products, no doubt. I own an MK wallet and am planning to buy one of totes. For the price and quality you get, it's worth every cent.

Yes, I agree. I love MK's bags and the quality is pretty good too. In many cases people are merely paying for the name on their bags. For example, there's not much difference between an MK saffiano and a Prada one.

There is a big difference between Prada Saffiano and MK saffiano. MK saffiano is quite rough and is not as thick as Prada's. Prada's saffiano also seems more flexible than MK's. People have been saying that they've gotten 'creases' on their MKs if the bag has been dented and they can't smooth it out anymore.

I do agree that MK's saffiano bags are durable and are of good quality overall though.

Wen I hear MK, I instantly think of the Selma or Hamilton. Also, MK had the Jet Set Zip Tote before LV did........

I don't think they are a Premium brand.


THey often go on sale and I can find them at TJ Maxx. LV, for example, never on sale, never in discount stores.


Also, the MK stores are not the same experience as like an LV store. Not as fancy or exclusive or elegant presentation. Most of MK is sold in Macy's which is more a middle of the road type store.
