Perfume can be very harsh on many materials not only leather, depending on what perfume too, those with high alcohol content can cause major damage. High Alcohol Content usually are cheap or bootleg perfume. Michael Kor leather are ok quality, even you splash it on other Premium Label leather more or less same damages will occur. Nail polish remover is another killer, a drop can cause irrecoverable damages to any leather, they can remove aklot of stuffs other than nail polish, some are even harsh on skin, they are great all purpose cleaner & remover for some hard to clean jobs.

It is not Leather cheap or whatever. A leaking, cracked bottle of perfume left on television top unknowningly, left a big discolored mark there, my personal experience many years back, at that time it's my first flat screen, it is new too at that time.

Let me know how your bag looks when it comes back from the repair shop. It was the definitely the alcohol content of the perfume that did the leather in. I have had several MK bags in the past and I had a similar thing happen once. Definitely my fault.

well i wouldnt say that its an indication of poor quality. leather is a natural skin hide. it is going to be porous. why would they protect it from the inside out? it makes sense to me that if the lining was full of perfume, that the suede side of the leather would absorb it as well.

I had a perfume once eat through a wood finish on a cabinet when I spilled some on it but didn't realize. It can be very potent stuff and I personally wouldn't carry it in my bag - it's right up there with ink! I don't think it has anything to do with the leather at all.

I hope you can get your bag looking nice again. Sorry this happened.
