He's the perfect amount of crazy but I knew it wouldn't last.

Michael and Benedict are bound to overshadow Chiwetel simply because they're better known. But when they start doing press, I can't imagine Steve, Michael or Brad will let Chiwetel get lost in the shuffle. It'll be pretty obvious (and sh**ty) if he's completely ignored.

Everyone does theater now. I think it's inevitable. I don't if anyone saw A Steady Rain but I'd love to see him in something like that.

Oh of course knowing what Steve McQueen showed at the roundtable, he doesn't play tiptoe around a subject, I'm sure he'll push Chiwetel on the front (which is anyway normal as he is the main character in TYAS). Cumberbatch and Fassbender are better known nowadays I'd say; because Chiwetel has been around for ages before both of them and he has almost always been consistent into delivering great performances, and yet he is still very much underrated imo. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean it as in being a Hollywood superstar à la Will Smith, I mean getting rightful recognition as an actor, like Idris Elba love him too and he is a good actor but I feel like Chiwetel is superior and "criminally" underrated. Like I read an article about TYAS and they started like this "Starring Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti,.... and Chiwetel Eijiofor".. again nothing to do with Fassbender nor Cumberbatch talent, just the way Hollywood and its media handle things, that reality.

Also yes it's me being picky and too demanding hehe :p

I haven't seen A Steady Rain, but I'd find it interesting that Fassbender tries some theatre at some point later in his career.

I don't think he's temperamentally suited to it?

He's said in the past (don't expect me to find links--I can't remember the sources) that one of the reasons why he dropped out of drama school was because of the bias against film acting vs. theater acting and they didn't focus enough on film acting at school.

He's also said that he likes the itinerant lifestyle of film acting, likes to do every take really different. The impression I have of him is that he gets kind of bored doing the same performance night after night.

Yes I get that feeling too, he gives me the vibe of being a bit of a ADHD hyper type who lives on the fast line and moves onto the next thing quick (like me as I can spot them, but I could be wrong and perhaps I project a vision of my own self onto him...), so indeed it may be difficult for him the stage thing...

But one can hope, who knows, his career is maturing, he is maturing and perhaps more options and different directions in the future ^^

I have the attention span of a 5 year but I still get a rush from theater. It's repetitive but being on stage can be exciting and with a limited run the commitment isn't much more than a film. I love theater so I hope it happens.

It sucks Chiwetel hasn't gotten the recognition he deserves but I really think he'll breakout soon they way Michael and Benedict have. He just needs the one standout role that gets people's attention. Hopefully, TYAS will do it.

Hey do you guys think that Fassbender will try the stage at some point in his career?

Well, he did only theatre exclusively for two years after drama school and then mixed TV with theatre for a few years. It seems he stopped doing theatre arounf the same time he stopped doing TV. Maybe some day.

He said a few tmes that he would like to do some theatre in the future, but it would be rather some modern, maybe even experimental play, not something classic.

BTW, here is a nice review of his performance in one of the plays he did. It seems that he steals the stage the same way he steals the screen. :smile1:

"Michael Fassbender as Michael Collins comes close to stealing the show"

... All the advance publicity has focused on Mel Smith as Churchill and, after a slightly shaky start, his was a fine performance. He was particularly good at showing us a man sure that he is nearing the end of his career; a politician in a difficult time trying to do what he genuinely thinks is for the best.

However it's Michael Fassbender who comes close to stealing the show as glamorous, tough-minded, passionate Irish patriot Michael Collins. This is a quietly controlled performance, played with great humour, which his mother should be proud of - she is a great-grand niece of Collins himself...

Well anything that is dear to his Irish heart and passion and talent, it can only be a powerful combination :smile1:

I loved the film Michael Collins sooo much, I was a bit gutted when Liam Neeson and Alan Rickman didn't get any Oscar nods for it.

Release dates for X-Men and Assasin's Creed changed:

Assassin’s Creed will now be released on June 19th 2015, a month later than the originally announced May 22nd release date. Michael Lesslie is currently writing the video game adaptation with Michael Fassbender and Frank Marshall producing.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is moving from the originally announced July 18th 2014 release date (now occupied by Apes) to an early summer release – May 23rd 2014, a week after Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla reboot and a week before Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur.

I was about to say something really stupid, because was going to say, will Michael have time to do AC because he will be cutting it fine with the new date until I realized that it is for 2015 not 2014.

ETA: Also, someone said that Michael was in one of these photo's (no. 6) but even though I can see someone similar it's from the back so it could also be his stunt double. So, maybe for the more eagle eyed is Michael in any of these.

Btw, has anyone else heard the rumors about Colin Farrell being "casting couch-ed" throughout his career. He got his break in Tigerland that way (Schumacher is notorious for this) & after his druggie/alcohol days, it was rumored that he basically had to do the same thing with studio producers.

Well the casting couch rumour started way back with Kevin Spacey; he got very much fond of Farrell when he saw him in a play in London... which is, well, Spacey modus operandi, spotting young fellas in a theatre, he hit on a friend of mine at the Young Vic a few years ago, it was hilarious. Anyway Spacey recommended Farrell for that film they did together way back, Criminal something, sorry forgot the title, and then he actually is the one who recommended him to Schumacher for Tigerland (both have been mates since working together on A Time to Kill)... and because both Spacey and Schumacher are gay (at least Joel openly is) that rumour of Colin Farrell cast couching stuck with him forever, given his wild antics pre-fame/during fame, the rumour became a fact to some. I still take it as a rumour.

That said, anything is possible in Hollyweird, so who knows. Still, casting couch excluded, Colin Farrell was in demand at some point, until bad box office and personal issues hit him hard, then he came back on the scene in full force with In Bruges.

Did you check out the thread? if it was scanned and posted somewhere on the Internet, it was posted in the thread as well. Interview with Sunday Times is on Tumblr but that's not the one you're looking for, me thinks.

ETA: I have gone ahead I bought the interview (from ebay) paid a lot more than wanted to but , oh well.
