Hi all, today I want to share a method how to find a KOREA PLASTIC SURGEON license and listed with the PRS KOREA Portal of Korean Plastic Surgeons.

I been reading the entire forum, basically, no one telling us how to find license plastic surgeon in Korea. I been reading all this “My shortlist is xxxclinic, etc” or “My plastic surgery review xxx Clinic” or “Surgery buddy 2021/2022 KaoKao Group chat) or “– apparently all this might be done by marketing promoter, or “Henry system” or girl posting for discount purposes , I appreciate all the girls who post a review, but to be honest the exact result only can show AFTER 1.5years – 2 years , so it might be too early/soon to say that the clinic is doing a good job.

Also I go to those clinic website, they hire some unknown model just for plastic surgery, like the content of instagram, they never tag the real person in ig so that you can see the real person life after surgery or something and you might ask her some questions (sometime girls that on YouTube I ask WHO is your surgeon? Either they don’t reply or they are saying I can’t remember), so you wouldn’t know if their result is real good afterwards.

The valuable things I read is those BOTCHED case and ghost doctor information. This has pause me into those FCATORY Clinic, there is so many YouTube channel that targeted foreigner and those of us doesn’t know where to start to find a clinic.

I been hanging in the group chat and this forum for 6 months, all the lengthy chat history and forums post make it very difficult to identify which one are real or marketing.

According to the news information that I read, assuming some statistic here,

Total Surgeon in GANGNAM AREA: 600

How many procedures per year in Korea: 1 million cases

Time for Rhinoplasty: 1.5-3 hours

Time for Eyelid: 1-3 hours

1000000/600= 1666.00 cases per clinic per year

1666.00 / 365 days = 4.5 / 5 cases per day.

Imagine the doctor needs to rush 5 cases per day and endless consultation. Don’t be surprised if they rush you after 15-20mins consultation time. This is why they need to hire part time doctors to help them.

METHOD:

STEP 1: Go to this government website: PRS KOREA Portal of Korean Plastic Surgeons

http://www.prskorea.co.kr/English/hospital/index.asp#

STEP2: Click the AREA , PROVINCE example GANGNAM

STEP3: SERACH the Doctor name or use CLTR+F to search Clinic name

REMEMBER
not all doctor in the clinic are all PLASTIC SURGEON License, so when you ask for consultation only ask the one listed with plastic surgeon license, ALWAYS look for DOCTOR not the clinic brand name.

Also the search is weird, you need to type EXCAT this format :
1. Search for your doctor by typing his/her name in the search bar.
2. Please write family name, first name in order
ex) Hong, Ghil Dong

Dr (dot) Kim (coma) Deok Jung

Dr.
Kim,DeokJung

Note: I don’t know why when I view on mobile, I can view some suspended license doctor, on website I CAN NOT view it, it like censorship out. So please view it with your phone.

And then I guess if we stick to these 600 plastic surgeon are licenses in GANGNAM we should be safe 50%. BUT you need to click one by one on the website which listed with the surgeon and see the real case review and check Instagram if the photos is Heavy photoshop. Then from there you choose your surgeon.

Note: on the Chinses version http://www.prskorea.co.kr/Chinese/

It kind of stated special department for the eyes or nose, in the English version it doesn’t so I guess need to figure that out too one by one.

Next article, I’m going to write to see who we can ensure our safety such as maybe having our own videographer during surgery, like a women who give birth who will record their birth process, so do our beauty surgery process. (I read there is a bill might pass in Korea where CCTV during surgery time is a must, will have to wait and see) this article written on August 31st, 2021

Like the one real hospital? Do you have experience that can share?
Well, getting cosmetic procedures done at a fully functioning hospital here is always going to be safer. I've seen plastic surgery clinic operating rooms, and they never really read "medical" to me, more like rooms with medical equipment in them. I'm sure they're not all like this, but I personally feel more comfortable knowing there's an emergency room with 100% board certified staff on-hand. There are too many "doctors" working out of clinics that let their licenses lapse, or ones that aren't certified at all.

I'm getting my breast reduction at an actual hospital as opposed to a clinic. A lot of locals here opt for getting their surgeries done at hospitals rather than clinics (I have tons of Korean friends that prefer it).

Hi! I’m interested in this as well but haven’t been able to find any info on procedures done in hospitals. Do locals choose a specific surgeon and request to get it done at a hospital or they choose a surgeon who is already based in the hospital?

Search hospitals, go to the plastic surgery/surgeon section on their website, and contact the surgeons personally. I found my surgeon by searching a hospital close-ish to me. I then looked through their website, found the plastic surgery surgeons, and picked from the one I was most interested in. I then contacted mine via FB (we switched to email after). All the surgeons who work out of hospitals do all of their procedures there, and don't work out of clinics.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response! I was actually searching Seoul National University Hospital and Gangnam Severance Hospital. I did look at their specialization and some do have aesthetic (plastic) surgeries listed. I’m just wondering about their before&after. It seems like they probably wouldn’t have them online right?

I do prefer having a surgery in an actual hospital with an ER but I am worried about their aesthetic sense since they are most likely doing more serious medical related cases? (Please correct me if I’m wrong on this)

You're welcome! I know how daunting it can be just to make a decision about where you want to get a procedure done.

They won't have any before and after's online. You'll have to meet with a specific surgeon and look at their books in-office. One thing to keep is mind is that a lot of people come to Korea for medical tourism, and not everyone provides after photos, as they generally go back to their home countries immediately. This is why it's important to do a lot of research on whatever surgery you want. Ask A TON of questions to make sure your surgeon is well-versed. I watched hundreds of hours of breast reduction surgeries and familiarized myself with the medical terms and various techniques before even sitting down with a surgeon. I've caught other surgeons spouting so much BS (suggesting incision types that I knew weren't going to give me the result I wanted, telling me they could only get me down to a certain size, etc.).

Not necessarily. Many surgeons in hospitals have done stints at plastic surgery clinics abroad and in Korea. My surgeon worked at a plastic surgery clinics in Milwaukee and two in Korea before moving on to her current hospital (where she also did her residency). If anything I feel more comfortable working with my surgeon because she's also a breast specialist. Doctor's who work out of hospitals tend to focus on one or two specialties (usually means their results will be more refined and of better quality) than a plastic surgeon working in a clinic that does multiple types of face and body surgeries.

Another thing about clinics is that they usually rush you in and out of consultations. When I did my consultation is was SO personal. I ended up spending over an hour talking with her about what I wanted. It ended with her inviting me to her husband's restaurant and us hugging lol.

Thanks for the details reply, if for for beauty reason will we be admitted into the general big hospital? I think usually big hospital only taking serious botched case, or emergency, life threatening cases. Also do you know if the big hospital having medical insurance for foreigner?

You have to go to the hospital to talk to the plastic surgeons there. No one can admit you to get a procedure done at a hospital but yourself. It's a choice. Regular hospitals have plastic surgeons on staff who work solely out of them for cosmetic surgery procedures. They don't only work with botched cases. I'm not sure how else to explain this.

You don't apply for insurance at a hospital. You have to apply for overseas insurance in your home country before coming here. I have Korean National Insurance, so I can't really help you with that.

No problem! I know it can be stressful dealing with medical stuff abroad. I honestly don't know. Your best bet would be to contact the hospital via email, or look through their surgeon lists on the hospitals website. I'm sure you can get a genioplasty at most clinics, though.

I personally don't know this specific surgery, sorry, try EMAIL this, to see if they recommend you any hospital? [email protected] It is the Korea Plastic Surgery government email.

The Korean association of plastic surgeons is NOT a government website, nor is it a government entity btw. Just like the ISAPS and ASPS (american society of plastic surgeons), all 3 associaitions are NOT government associations.

These are basically organizations set up by medical professionals for informational and academic purposes, who require all their members and constituents to pay a membership fee in order to join. What they tend to offer their members is access to academic seminars on new / updated surgical techniques / innovations in the medical field and of course, a listing in their surgical directory amongst other things.

If you don't see a surgeon signed up with those organizations, it does not mean they arent board certified. It just means they chose not to sign up as members of those associations. A government association would not charge membership fees in that manner.
