Malachite - Cartier Amulette or VCA Alhambra

Is it true that Cartier is ceasing the amulette collection? Or was that's just a rumour?

I can understand you wanting something different given you already have Alhambra. My concern would be that if Cartier discontinues the amulette collection, will you still be ale to get the malachite replaced?

From my understanding, they are slowing phasing it out. It seems to be what Cartier does when discontinuing a line. They used to have different sizes in the amulette collection and different stones but now have downsized the collection to just the XS model in onyx, mother of pearl and malachite. They used to have pink opal, lapis lazuli, and all gold/pave version, etc. I just checked the website and it appears that you can still add to shopping bag, so they look to be available at the moment.

As for buying the necklace in malachite and needing any service in the future, I’m sure that Cartier will be able to assist even if the line has been discontinued. There are people who bring in their pieces twenty years later to Cartier for service, so you won’t have any issue there if you decide to purchase.

If you think that you may want to own both in the future (Malachite Cartier Amulette and Malachite VCA alhambra) I would pull the trigger on the Cartier first because it’s at more risk of being permanently discontinued in the near future, unless you feel comfortable turning to the secondhand market. There’s also a Cartier price increase coming up in the next month or so, if that matters to you.

Yes, there is low inventory for amulette, and while customer service did not confirm that it is being discontinued, that is my guess as well. They did say that servicing it would not be a problem if it were to be discontinued so that’s a relief. I was going to place an order with CS, but my SA just happened to find one in stock at my boutique! And as you pointed out, now is probably the time to get it, before it’s harder to find and there’s a price increase. So all signs are pointing to the amulette! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

That makes sense - Cartier had a great name, I can't imagine them saying 'sorry we don't make that anymore you're on your own'. I would hope they would stand stand by the piece to replace/repair if necessary.

Thanks to everyone for their input! I tried both the malachite and MOP in the boutique, and while I loved the malachite stone, the RG just did not work with my skin tone. I really loved the MOP, but in the end felt it was too similar to my VCA. So I ended up with the small legers necklace, which has always been on my list. I absolutely love it and find that it’s perfect for stacking! I’m going to keep the perlee necklace in malachite in mind for my next purchase!
