Get the original unless the YK makes your heart absolutely sing (which it doesn't sound like it does considering you're asking us if you should keep it!). It is a beautiful bag, but it's easy to get wrapped up in the stellar ads LV is pumping out.

I think the Alma with the polka dots is cute and definitely a statement piece, but I don't think the price is justified. In the long run you will probably be happier with the plain black Alma because it really goes with everything. I love mine - it is one of my most used bags.
Looks great on you but if you are anything like me, I'd bet those dots (holes IMO) will irritate you in the long run. If money is no object, keep it, but if not, I'd return. If you like the collection, maybe an SLG?
I think this is not just another collection that can be updated in a few years like others… this is a piece of art imo so you should think of the bag as such. If you don’t see it this way then go for a regular black Alma. As some people said, you have to love your bag I had already the black Alma neo bb and went for this anyways as I think it is something really special…

That’s also what my hubby said when I told him … He said it’s a special edition, an arty piece and I should keep her. I love the bag, as it’s really my style. I was just having second thoughts because she’s quite pricey. But the regular black epi version didn’t make my heart sing, I went back to the store to have a look at it. And now with another price increase just happened, I take that as a sign that she’s here to stay with me
I like it , little more fun than just a plain black epi alma…I like the dots and the bag charm. It’s not as busy as the dots on the monogram pattern..
Same! The painted dots are too colourful at least for me, it’s a bit chaotic with all those different colors.
Thanks for posting this! I ALSO share your dilemma of whether to keep the YK Alma or stick to classic BB. I already have the Alma in the PM size, also in Black. I like how the BB offers a smaller silhouette, but does the YK dot pattern make the BB look more “casual”? I’m torn. I have a lot of black Epi bags, and I like how the YK pumpkin compliments the Alma, how it’s detachable and can be added to any of my other black Epi bags. I think that Pumpkin charm is the reason for the markup - and a nod to the YK vibe. LV could have sold that charm separately but instead opted to have it exclusively on certain bags, which makes it more special. Then again, I also like the look of plain black in bb size - and my SA surprised me with suggesting this version with the wider canvas strap, which is growing on me! The black plain Epi will always be available, but the YK will not. At this point, SA offered the idea to sit with the YK, because it may soon be sold out (marketing tactic?), try it at home with other outfits. So I’m not sure… but at least I have a little time to think about it. What did you decide?
I decided to stay with the YK Alma BB, because I really love the dots and the pumpkin charm - plus it’s a special bag that I won’t see often when going out like a lot of other LVs. I was in love when I saw it in store - I just had sort of buyers remorse because of the price. I was wondering whether a bigger bag at the same price point was more „worth“ the money, if you get what I mean. Or wether I should go with the regular Alma bb epi, because it’s cheaper.
I went bag to the store to take a look at the regular Alma bb as well as the Neverfull MM Empreinte, which I was eying - and came home with my YK Alma bb nevertheless, because she suits my actual collection of different bags the most.
The regular Alma bb epi is too plain for my taste, it’s really understated and especially the combination of a classic bag like Alma with those fun dots is speaking to me. I wouldn’t go for a plain black bb if you already have the black pm.

Thanks for the thoughtful insights!! I would say that the plain black Epi is always striking, but my only hesitation in getting the plain black Epi in BB is that I already have it in the PM size. The YK version has a special quality, offers something different to my large collection of black bags. I’m leaning toward the YK version, but still not sure. I hate feeling like I have to make a decision because of the limited quantities of the YK collection!
Totally feel you! I also have a lot of black bags from LV and other brands, so the YK Alma was a nice twist to that. I think you should go for it - if you don’t like it anymore in the future, I guess you’ll still be able to sell it quite easily.

I just went to my local boutique and was shown LV x YK Alma BB as I’ve been thinking about adding an epi Alma bb. Pictures look so so but the quality and the silhouette of the bag were exceptional. It felt like a little piece of true luxury. Had it not been for 2 previous handbag purchases I’d have snapped it up. The dots and the charm are not tacky ( as i feared they could be ). I might regret not getting it(( I did’t want to let it go out of my hands!
For those who only saw pictures if the bag I’d say you need to try it on as it is beautifully attractive in person. Pictures make it look already dated but in reality it’s a perfect little bag that would be perfect for both spring and summer dresses and jeans and jackets weather. Fun yet elegant beauty for sure!
