In 2016 i bought the most beautiful bag, babylone pm in mahina ivory. I've taken such good care of her, baby-ing her. She's probably never touched the floor . Then of course it's white so i don't wear as much. Stored out of humidity, climate controlled.

Now, i took her out twice this weekend and noticed the piping \seal is cracking. It's not bad yet but I'm sure it will progress.

I took it into lv and they said it's not fixable and it's normal wear and tear. I'm so upset.

How can it be normal? It's ridiculous how much i baby this bag.
I understand its 5 years old but I've barely used it. It's in pristine condition otherwise. I looked this up on this forum and it seems a lot of people has had this issue in the past. Lv adressed it, either replaced bag or gave credit. Some items were fixed.

Should I just let it go and love my bag as she slowly dies? Or should I be doing something else?
Thanks in advance!

I have a speedy from 2016 with cracked canvas along the zipper that they call wear and tear. After the store said this I reached out to LV via email. I got the same answer from LV corporate but you may want to try that for your situation. I’ve seen enough posts on glazing/piping issues and it seems like they all get fixed even if it’s at the customer’s expense. Good luck!

Maybe try another store or the repair email address? I find that I get different answers from different locations. Good luck.

In my humble opinion, at some point the company needs to protect themselves from people who abuse the system. I do believe you, in that you barely used the bag. Regardless of use or not, the leather is going to wear overtime, especially after 5 years. I live in Washington and can't control the humidity issue.

Also, from a business standpoint, (former, Nordstrom employee here) allowing/reconciling an issue 5 years after the purchase date opens an avenue for too many people to take advantage and get a new bag every 5 years. The company will lose money having such a generous window. Either the company would need to mitigate the loss by increasing overall cost of merchandise, or not allow/accommodate such requests. I think one year is a reasonable amount of time to ask for the company to address an issue. Most manufacturer warranties are about a year.

I hope you are at least able to ask for an estimate on paying for a repair, similar to a shoe cobbler. The other thing that makes me feel better about buying luxury is only buying the items for function. If it's going to sit in a closet for 'special occasion' use only, then the cost per wear is not worth it.

Seems like they would offer to repair it at a cost. I would reach out again, maybe to a different store. Just curious, how do you store it when not in use...just in the dust bag or in the box (which can cause issues). I hope you get a good resolution!

Its in a dustbag in closet. No box. Lots of breathing room. I also reached out to leather surgeons to see if they could offer any repair options.

Agree 100%. I naively thought that if i cared for it really well, it would be perfect forever. Blinded by love. Lesson learned.

If it's the piping, I'd be surprised if they wouldn't be able to repair it, even if a repair would be chargeable. I would definitely try another store or email/call client services.

I would think it's extremely unlikely that they'd replace the bag after five years, unless it's a known defect. I'd be interested to see photos too.

This is the overall external view, with an alternative strap. The following 2 pics show example of the cracks that are happening in the piping of the top of the bag

Really? That must have been an idiot who told you that is is not fixable. It is literally the most basic service they offer, it costs around a $100 and they repaint those edges beautifully. I recommend that you try again, ask for the repair specialist or the manager, or contact Customer Services as the others recommended. This is a very minor issue that they can handle for almost all of their leathergoods. Please keep us updated.

that is definitely repairable but you will be charged for it. My Métis (leather) got that same too. While the canvas ones get repaired for free, for the leather one they will tell you, you need to pay for.
