LV Monogram amidst the "Quiety Luxury" trend

IMO, I don’t think there’s really a quiet luxury trend right now. Influencers don’t represent real life. They can say what they want, but I don’t notice any difference in what people are carrying. And it hasn’t changed how I carry my bags. Some people have more of a quiet luxury style in general. And others don’t. Do you. The majority of influencers project fake lives, and don’t do what they say anyway.
Whatever an “Influencer” says I do the opposite. Please! Most of them buy the bag and return it 2 seconds later so who knows what’s real.

Amen to that! I live in Los Angeles and I can't go to restaurants, stores, sometimes even just up or down streets themselves without seeing a dozen young women with some variation of the same outfit/bag combo as they photograph themselves. It's exhausting. There are whole restaurants I avoid at peak times because I just know they'll be teeming with "influencers."

A trend is exactly what it is - a trend. It comes and goes and this one will go real soon. The thing about influencers and social media personalities is that they can’t stand not being known for something and showing off how successful they are - especially since it what’s keeps their viewers watching.
How I see it is that “quiet luxury” was just a counter culture response to logomania because everyone loves to be ahead of the curve and be cool and be “different”.

I like what I like and I’m gonna wear what I like. Not gonna let some “influencer” with no real world or job experience tell me what to do with my money or how I live my life. It’s all just noise. If social media platforms didn’t have “influencers” creating noise, these platforms would literally die off. And that’s what trends are - noise.

Also, there’s nothing more embarrassing than trying to be stealth wealth when you’re a conspicuous consumer.

Some people here sure have semi-heated responses regarding influencers and the “quiet luxury” trend…

I think a more accurate description for “quiet luxury” is classic, but no one wants to say “classic” because people typically imagine a somewhat more mature client for classic pieces.

Whether or not you like the trend, it’s still important to note that fashion tends to be conservative during economic lows. I think to bash influencers kind of misses the point -because what we should be asking is “how are the upcoming pieces from every designer suggesting the near economic future to look like?”

Also, what’s so wrong with people wanting to look more discreet, even if they don’t have an established and well-documented pedigree to back themselves up? People can do whatever they want with their money, and as long as it causes no direct harm to you, who cares??

There are some careers where displaying obvious wealth in the workplace is frowned upon, especially if you’re young, a woman, or both.

Also, not every old and established family is dripping in exuberant amounts of wealth these days. There are plenty of old families that hold onto “stealth wealth” values, even if they don’t enjoy the same socioeconomic status from hundreds of years ago.

Basically, some of these comments are petty and judgmental.

Interesting take.

For the record, as I said upthread, I am a "quiet luxury" person and always have been. I just also hate influencers. And given that I live in one of the capital cities for wannabe influencers trying to show off how wealthy they are (whether or not they are), I'm just sick of that entire trend.

I’m currently considering a bag other than my usual LV addiction, and I am looking for a bag that’s a little more discreet. It’s definitely not due to influencers, more so wanting an option that can go below the radar a little more and that I will keep for the foreseeable. A classic, definitely. One I’m considering is the padded Bottega cassette which I know is not in trend at the moment, but that doesn’t bother me! Quality, longevity and classic is what I’m looking for. Does this mean I won’t wear my LV bags? Hell no, they are my babies and my dailies! But having another option in my rotation that can be more discreet will be handy!
