It's actually a Speedy 40, not a Keepall. Like someone else has mentioned, Keepalls are size 45 and up, and Speedy's are size 40 and lower. So technically it is a large handbag. Sorry to bring this up and beat a dead horse, it's just bugging me that you keep referring to it as a Keepall lol.
I also have the Speedy 40, and use it as a handbag, not luggage.
Just want to clarify that there are vintage keepall 40 available. Ive seen them on ebay and on The Real Real. They are basically speedy 40 with vachetta on canvas panels. I do think its a large handbag but a good duffle if youre petite like me and just want your travel pillow blanket ipad and mask in front of your feet.
Keepall 40 for your reference. They also have vintage ones online in monogram. I would say youre right about it being a speedy since the leather reinforcement panels on the sides are what make it a keepall or luggage bag.
This was exactly what I was referring to, that after 2019 they made special editions, like this Aerogram, and even mini ones. Before that 40 and down = Speedy, 45 and up = Keepall, these were the rules.
I checked RealReal. I already knew they were unreliable in many regards, but they seemingly have 0 quality control when it comes to checking merchandise info. The vintage bags you're referring to are all Keepall 45s on their site (pro tip: count the monograms), they are just labelled 40 by the (amateur) sellers. It is not the end of the world, but second-hand listings are clearly is not valid sources of Vuitton history.
At the end of the day a Keepall is what Vuitton called a Keepall. Now they are all over the place with naming, but even up until very recently, they were VERY consistent in this.

Here is the same Speedy 40 in a 737 (do not know the series number) window seat. It is poking out a bit. I wonder if the flight attendants will make me move it.
It seems to work better in an asile seat.

i just recently traveled and your post reminded me of how small seats have gotten. I could barely put by 2 big feet in front of me, let alone a beauiful Vintage Speedy 40 !!
p.s. have u checked out the price of these new 40's lately ??

Same on the big feet (size 10/42). A Keepall 50 used to work.
Had not looked at the prices until just now.
