I thought OP mentioned that she tried it on in the past weekend...?

I’m probably got the threads confused with someone who wanted to buy something and couldn’t try it on. Yes, I went back and read it and she did try it on. I am curious OP to know if it lies flat when worn, please let us know. It really is so special, and if the colors work and it looks great, go for it.

@marbella8 - Yes...it does lay flat. Still on the fence

It’s tough, but right now you think you can have the piece. Think what if they called and said they sold both pieces in the US and they are not expecting more….how would you feel, like you missed out or ok that’s ok, kind of relieved. Sometimes I get relieved when something sells and that’s when I know I’m glad I didn’t buy it. Good luck deciding.

IMHO, once I try it on, i would know
Immediately whether I loved it. It doesn’t matter if it’s practical or if I would wear it everyday, if I love something.

The fact that you are hesitating and weighing various factors and opinions makes me think this is a pass.

I wear big jewelry on a daily basis, and this seems like more of a summer piece to me. Thus, of course, the name. Which may, or may not, justify it to you in terms of cost per wear.

Trust your gut instinct.

This -
If you are hesitant - either financially it may not be the right time or you just aren’t sure that it’s THE ONE
It’s a unique peice - but will you still love it in 20 years?

Does anyone out there have the Lucky summer necklace? I tried it on this past weekend and it is truly beautiful but I am very torn on whether to pull the trigger. I had the 20 motif pave & onyx on my list but i will have to pass it I get the Lucky summer. I will be on ban island for the next few years...LOL. It really is a special piece but I think about cost per wear and then question the purchase. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Apparently, there are only 2 in the US so I could miss out if I don't make a decision soon. View attachment 5956478
Hi! Everyone has provided great comments, and I'll chime in and add my two cents...

I vote to stay with with your 20 onyx and pave Alhambra necklace. It's a beautiful piece and a classic.

I would ask yourself...
This Lucky Summer necklace is not new, so why did you not love it and want it when it first came out? Is part of the reason why you now want it is because you are about to "miss out?"

"Missing out" is perspective. My perspective is that this collection has been out for a while; yet, no one has wanted this necklace. Hence no, you are not missing out. Rather, this necklace keeps getting offered to clients who keep passing on it.

Some food for thought as you decide...
This necklace in my opinion is very hard to wear casually and not have it come across looking like costume jewelry (e.g. the Carribbean cruise big colorful jewelry theme). It could look nice in formal wear (summer outdoor event), but for me, when I go formal, I prefer colored gemstones and diamonds.

This piece is more a summer fun vibe, and because of the design of this necklace, to me, it only looks good over skin. This means low cut tops/spaghetti straps as on the model or open collar shirts (e.g. white cotton shirt). I don't think it will look good with scoop necks or vnecks as the neckline will compete with the necklace. For me, I do not think it will look good in fall or winter. This is strictly a summer piece in my opinion. Of course, people wear anything, so it's all preference.

That said, if you love love love the piece, and it is not an emotional FOMO purchase, get it.
If you truly love something, the money spent will be well worth it, and you will forget about that expense when you stare at your gorgeous item.

Because this necklace is so in your face, I would think a bit if this stye reflects your fashion look. Everyone has a fashion look, and jewelry should be a statement as a reflection of who they are.

I love a lot of jewelry pieces I see. However, if it's not my style and fashion look, I will never buy it, no matter how beautiful that piece is.

I also want to comment on turquoise and lapis. These are not rare nor valuable stones. VCA has created this myth these stones are rare. Hence, be sure you 100% love and will wear turquoise (and lapis) and are not buying it out of emotion.

For me, turquoise is super hard to wear with outfits as the color, while beautiful on its own, is tough to coordinate as a jewelry piece and certainly this necklace. Think of the outfits you will wear with this necklace (casual and formal).

Visualize bead turquoise and lapis necklaces like you see everywhere. Do you love this turquoise and lapis look? That's another test. Take off the VCA name from this necklace... would you buy a turquoise/lapis necklace if you saw it at Macy's?

Just my two cents, and I hope it helps to make up your mind.
It's Thursday, so I might be a bit late to help in your decision though, but good luck deciding!

Oh... I want to add (I really hope it's not too late to add my two cents)...

Alhambra vs. Lucky Summer necklace aside...

Let's think long necklace vs. short necklace!

On necklace style... I am really loving glamorous long necklaces on ladies!
I've been watching Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and also The New Look (story of Dior and Chanel during occupied France), and the long necklaces Slim Keith and Lee Radziwill wear make such a strong "I am a glamorous elegant woman" statement. Of course, we have all seen Coco Chanel's piles of necklaces.

However, seeing long necklaces in motion worn on Slim and Lee just makes me fall in love with long necklaces all over again!
I totally love long necklaces.

Just wanted to share that...
Your 20 onyx and pave will be FABULOUS on you! Super chic! All day, every day!

Hello if I may I post here the pictures of the bracelet because to stay on topic I tried it as a necklace too. I did that because I felt it wouldn’t be practical as a bracelet. It keeps moving back and forth (doing 180• movement on my wrist and was quite at the good size though …) but the piece is soooo beautiful ! I hesitated but because of the difficulty to wear it and do thinks with your hand on that side I renounced … still we get beautiful pictures. Another SA didn’t see it was a bracelet and was asking me where I found this piece as she knew they had only the bracelet 😗. I just extend it with my 5 motif at the back

Both pieces are beautiful but highly impractical. However that might not be an issue for some collectors so carpe diem for those who can afford it and love it. I do think VCA could have employed their ingenuity and made the bracelet more of a cuff style or made it more stationary since it seems the natural movement while on the arm is awkward.

Did you ever end up buying the necklace?

I must be in the minority here because I like this necklace more than the Alhambra. I also lean towards blue more so it might be my personal bias. This would be the perfect summer necklace to wear for brunch, parties, even on vacation. I really like how they styled it here with a plain white top, you have the option to pair it with any turquoise/mop/lapis/hammered earrings and bracelets IMG_6299.jpeg
