Ok, two Coach purchases, currently still in boutiques.

They're actually intended as part of my Christmas gifts, so I'm not using any of them until then .... and further, my SA ordered them early so I absolutely did not miss out. If they're purchasable on PCE, she's going to re-ring them as a Black Friday PCE purchase. I haven't seen many of these posted here, so I thought I'd post these pics for anyone curious.

It's the dinosaur/found-objects keyring, and the pink (adobe) "Lucky" crossbody, which is apparently only available through Coach itself as an "online exclusive". I had to have this bag. ... No, you don't understand -- I *had* to *have* this bag. ... If I ever bought another bag, it had to be this one. I had already been thinking about getting something in light pink, and then along came this.

(I'll start with some pics, and then explain why, in the next post.)

I know the Lucky bag is probably an odd choice :thinkin:, especially coming from me, but I wanted to explain why. Entering my late forties now, I've told my husband for years that I've been far luckier in how my life turned out, than I logically should have been. (And I am immensely grateful to the powers on high).

More to the point, I do not use the word "lucky" casually or flippantly. I hope people can understand that. There are a few members here who know my backstory (hunnyplaya and lizmil for two), but suffice it to say that the circumstances surrounding my birth were far from "Father Knows Best." (Shortest summary: I was someone's dark little secret. And no, it has nothing to do with an adoption.) Even worse, I discovered the unpleasant truth completely by accident, at the already precarious age of thirteen. It should have messed with my education, yet miraculously did not. It should have spun me into a teenage rebellion, but did not. It did mess with my perceptions of relationships for a while, so that I waited until graduate school to have my first real boyfriend. But even that turned into unexplainable luck, as I think God himself dropped the most generous, most loyal, most amazing first-boyfriend-turned-future-husband right into my lap. I didn't even have to go looking for him ... I was simply assigned to help with his dissertation research :shrugs: . Even our adoption of daughter was amazingly snag-free. ..... I honestly look at God sometimes and say, "Ok, there's absolutely no logical way I should have gone from *there*, to *here*. What's the catch?"

I only say all that to emphasize that I have never used the words "lucky" or "blessed" flippantly. So when Coach's "Lucky" bag first appeared on the site, and in light pink? Holy geez, I was right there with my nose pressed to the window. :D

So now that it's in my hot little hands, I figured I'd post it.

The leather is pebbled and has some thickness to it ... reminds me a lot of the leather on the Shadows (which in turn reminds me of the leather on the Dakotah's .... I've never felt up a Tatum because Tatum's aren't my carry style, so I cannot draw a comparison there). The hangtag is the extra thick whiplash kind (with the whiplashed strand of leather), and is black on one side and saddle-color on the other. The saddle-color surprised me ... I would have expected black and pink like the bag ... but the saddle matches the saddle under the turnlock zipper pull (you'll see it in the pictures). There's also a silver hangtag, and the combination is attached by a jewelry-clasped nickle/metal chain (I'll be adding an extra, homemade safety chain as well, because I'm paranoid like that. ;) )

I was also surprised to discover that the bag is essentially reversible. One side has the "Lucky" script, and the other has the small, metal Coach logo with horse and carriage. So either side looks good when facing outward. The script itself is "raised" in the leather, then painted. I guess you'd call it reverse-embossed, then painted.

The strap is chain with a leather insert, that likewise has the whiplash weave. One side of the strap is also detachable, which is handy because it means you can easily add an extra dogleash or two if you want a little extension one day.

As far as size, it's a little larger than the Nolita-24, so will certainly hold everything I carry. (Small wallet, mini-skinny, wristlet, epi-pen, full set of spare keys, zip case with paper and a couple pens, phone, clip-on sunglasses, packet of tissues, a few feminine products --- the same stuff I showed recently in the Shadow bag.)

As for the "found objects" bag-charm/keyring, the first thing you notice when you pick it up is, "Wow, heavy." The charms are also solid cast (or at least seem to be), and the dinosaur is not jointed in any way (jointed would have been cool, but at least this way it won't risk coming apart).

My only warning would be that the clasp is their standard lobster claw charm clasp now, which, as we've seen with other charms, and even some straps, can come apart if you're not watchful. (I refer to that little screw that holds the lobster claw part onto the main-loop-that-also-holds-each-of-the-charms.) As always with this charm clasp, I would recommend double checking the tightness of that screw when purchasing, and then always hang the charm with the large keyring looped through the lobster claw part. (So if the screw ever opens, the large keyring acts as a safety chain and you at least wouldn't lose the rest of the charm. Personally, I'll probably also attach an additional, small, home-made safety chain, but like I said above, I'm paranoid like that. ;) )

This charm is eventually going to end up on the Lucky bag ... after my SA sees if she can re-ring it with Black Friday PCE; after Christmas; and after I do something quite sacriligious to it. ;) The only charm whose loop is solid-welded onto the main loop, is the dinosaur, which is perfect because he stays on-board. The feather, too, will stay. The skull (attached by a jumpring I can easily work with) will be removed and tucked away with my Coach receipts. I'm sorry, but I simply loathe skulls. The record player and headphones (also attached by jumprings) will be removed and turned into another bag-charm that will be safely attached to one of daughter's bags. Her 13-year-old self is always listening to music.

It's the dinosaur and feather that are staying with me. Fossil records show that birds descended from dinosaurs --- the carnivorous therapod subset in particular, who ran on two legs. The latest fossils show that velociraptors (those killers that hunted as a pack in Jurassic Park?) were actually covered in feathers. And while they're not yet sure about T-rex, the current theory is that juveniles at least had feather-down for warmth. So since we have our own little flock of dinosaurs ... errr, parrots ... that dinosaur and feather *must* end up attached to my Lucky bag. :D

Wow, I'm impressed! I can honestly say that I've never given that much thought to any bag I've purchased thus far..........and I've purchased quite a few.

Enjoy your new bag and well thought out charm!

What a great bag! It's a wonderful shade, and perfect details. Your story behind the purchase is very lovely, I'm so happy for your life and your appreciation of it. The altered bag charm will look great on the bag! I just adore that little dinosaur!

I completely understand the reasons behind your bag purchase. I bought myself the sterling Lucky bracelet for reasons somewhat similar to yours. ( things that happened in my life that should have left me an incoherent mess, haven't. )

The color of your bag is really beautiful. I love the pale pink. I also really love the found objects purse charm/key fob. ( whatever they are calling these things now. ) Enjoy your goodies!!
