Not sure if you are responding to my mail. No where is vechetta mentioned in my post. Bag is subject to wear and tear and I have no complains that my heavily used Chanel lambskin wallet with wears at the corner cos that is how it is over time. But to have canvas prints wearing off when a bag is lightly used is not acceptable. I am still curious why my beaten ( and squashed in a corner) vintage bucket bag has no scratches nor wear on the canvas while a newer, lightly used bag stored properly in a dust bag shows wear on the canvas so quickly.
Maybe you had it rub against something ..I’ve been using my mono v tote and do not baby it. It’s been banged against doors and walls and used in the winter and there is NO canvas rub off not even on the corners. It is a very durable bag.

I wasn’t necessarily responding to you, but yes, lol, I agree you do have a curious situation on your hands. It is very odd indeed for an authentic LV bag to spontaneously rub/wear out its own canvas while sitting in its dust bag.

LV makes great, durable bags. For Pete’s sake there is a thread here about people putting their LV bags in the washing machine. I have never had a bag—bar none—not cheaper, not more expensive, that I have used, abused, and carried and slung around for as many years and as many miles as my LV bags.

It wasn’t LV that put form before function, it was all of those people who complain that their vachetta doesn’t stay perfectly out-of-the-box pristine indefinitely who demanded it. They said vachetta scared them. (News flash kids, vachetta is tough as a tank, durable UN-treated leather. It isn’t meant to stay pristine.) So LV started removing our beloved vachetta from a lot of bags. Like Montsouris. :crybaby: So great bags that used to have vachetta at the stress points now do not. If you want a terrific LV, buy the tried and true classics in mono with vachetta at the wear points, (as they were designed 150 years ago) get over the fact that the vachetta changes color with use and enjoy LV quality which everyone says they desire, for many years to come.
You hit the nail on the head!

I’ve owned older bags and SLGs, the oldest of which is from the late 90s. I do see a difference in the materials -- the canvas seems more substantial and the hardware better quality, but unfortunately this is not exclusive to LV. Nothing is made as well as it used to be, I find. However, compared with other brands, I find LV’s quality generally excellent. I’ve had no real issues with canvas fading or chipping, stitching coming undone, etc. These are issues I’ve had with some other brands not necessarily much less expensive than LV.

I don’t agree. In your pictures , are examples of people not taking care of their bags. if you don’t store them properly of course it will look like that. And the other pictures look like rubbing . I have been using my mono v tote and don’t baby it and corners and canvas are fine. I haven’t had any issues with my LV bags...
What is the best way to store it? I am considering getting a speedy 25 in DE, but I’m so hesitant because I’ve been reading about quality issues regarding the canvas.

Hi to you all!
I started my collection last year with the Graceful and then bought a preloved Noe. Since that time the newer canvas of the graceful felt like rubber to me. The old canvas of the Noe (25 years) is still great. No cracks, no damage with the print or something else. I am going to buy now only preloved bags from the older design lines. They are more stylish and more durable IMO.
