I have a gorgeous LV Multicolore Blanc Speedy that I bought new in 2004. I only used it twice so it's in pristine condition. It was too heavy for me to carry and I even bought a leather strap to carry on my shoulder, but still too heavy. So, it was packed away but I would occasionally take it out ot admire it. I figured it would be collectible some day.

Fast forward-- the last time I took it out I noticed it had some of the reddish discoloration due to a manufacturer defect well known to LV. Not the worst I've seen, but not the perfect bag any longer. I brought it in for repair. Bottom line, they don't carry the materials to replace the pocket --which is what they need to do to fix. So LV graciously offered to give me credit for a new bag. (I secretly think they want my almost perfect bag for their collection!)

So, the dilemma...do I give them the now flawed bag that I've cherished for 15 years --- and what would be a good choice for a new bag. I loved having something that not everyone had. I am seriously heartbroken. It's like breaking up after 15 years. Here are some photos of the bag and it's discoloration on the pocket. There is light patina only and discoloration is just shadowing on the photo. It truly was in perfect condition.IMG_3264 2.JPG IMG_3265 2.JPG IMG_3266 2.JPG IMG_3270 2.jpg

I know! I am so torn. But I won't carry it. It will be for my collection and I was hoping for my daughter someday but she has no interest as of now. Or do I get another bag to use and enjoy?

I have this bag and I have the shading in the exact same area. I’m surprised they offered to give you credit. I’ve only used it like three times as it is heavy. How much did they offer if you don’t mind me asking? I’m not sure if I can bring myself to turn in this bag but curious.

I would ditch that fifteen year old bag reeeaal fast and take the store credit!!
No question.

First of all, that is a gorgeous bag. Personally, I’d keep it, but that’s just me. I bought a MC Aurelia last year at a ridiculously good price off Yoogi’s with the same issue. Do I still use it? Heck yes. It’s too fabulous not to (I’d wanted a MC piece since high school), and no one has noticed but me.

However, if you aren’t using the bag, the store credit option might be the way to go. Buy something that you will love and use more!
