4 years in and still going strong. I use mine about once a month between flying or road trips. I was lucky enough to travel through Europe last year with my Horizon 55 and through multiple airports , tiny cabs, rental cars, trains and in and out of hotels she really got tested. I am happy to report that she did great and I only ended up with one small scratch on the canvas from a Taxi in Paris of all places lol
Other than that test here is what I have found.
- Like others have mentioned the aluminum does get scratched but not bad and only noticeable if you are practically inspecting it.
- Since I do not use apple guard I do have about 3 water spots on the vachetta leather. They are beauty marks and I can tell you where I was when the snow or rain caused them. Maybe they are souvenirs?
- My handle sometimes does not latch in the up position and I have to jiggle it. This is probably my fault from lifting it on and off curbs from the telescoping handle. I could not get it to duplicate for my SA

I love my Horizon 55 and am planning on adding another for my Husband in Eclipse

I also love mine.

It’s the perfect cabin size (55), plus half the weight and 1/3 extra interior capacity, compared to standard luggage with handle bars built inside. One of my fave features is the handle frame skeleton on the exterior - the design is genius and exclusive to Vuitton. The only con for Horizon luggage is the body does dent more easily than standard rolling luggage but that was the payoff for using aluminum for ultimate lightness and open interior. I actually don’t care about this because owning LV luggage and the joy of using it makes it worthwhile. No problems with scratching on the handle b/c I left those stickers on and use it’s matching cover. I also don’t stress about having to check it b/c I always fly with Air Canada and they replace or pay for damage done to your luggage in transit.

The price justification is very subjective to the individual: ie. to go from choosing $50 for the cheapest roller luggage to happily spending $1500 for Rimowa or more for Vuitton. The wear and tear of Rimowa denting is similar to LV, but it is thicker so many people prefer that. To me, dented luggage is still dented luggage, so I prefer mine to be LV. My custom WT one is the most expensive item in my collection and I love it to death. I don’t regret a penny I spent on it. LV pieces for travel is quintessential to the heritage and DNA of Vuitton and as ahistory lover, that’s my favourite part

Anyone has any advice on where i can get a off brand protector for the horizon 55? Most I see wont work with the wide handle right!

Thanks in advance!
Reviving this post to see if anyone has updates on their luggage pieces. I know we have not been traveling very much this year, but can those with the Horizon give your thoughts and updates on your pieces? I am interested in getting a Horizon 55 and wanted to hear more about wear and tear, any pros/cons with the function or design of the piece, and whether you now love/hate the piece after using it. I am not concerned about scratches and such on the aluminum, which I’ve read is common and happens quite easily. I am moreso interested in how the luggage piece works for you when you’re traveling and whether you’ve found it gets easily damaged in other respects. Thanks in advance for your input!
To answer both your posts:

We went into lengthy discussion about Horizon cover options in this thread and why there are no cheaper alternatives. I also answered in depth about all the Horizon’s pros and cons @miknarth so hopefully it will answer your questions  GL deciding!

Thank you both for your honest thoughts on this piece. I originally wanted the Pegase because I thought it would be more durable and functional, but the weight, capacity, wheels and design of the Horizon definitely changed my mind. I can deal with scratches and dents, but I didn’t want to face broken wheels or parts falling off down the line, so I’m glad to hear that your pieces have been through multiple and frequent trips and that they’ve worked out for you after years of use. Truly appreciate you both sharing your review of this gorgeous piece of luggage. You’ve helped me decide so I’m going for it! :drinks:

You’re welcome, hun. Happy to hear the good news that you’re getting one :) Yay! Can’t wait for that reveal!!

I've always wanted a cabin bag from LV as well. I have a smaller overnight bag in the Damier graphite canvas which I adore. My thing is that I'd prefer a soft-sided spinner that isn't a "clamshell," and that also has a pocket in the front for my laptop. I keep hoping that LV will update the older Pegase design to a spinner. I'm not a fan of the Horizon soft-sided spinner because I don't like the graphics. I'd buy it if they issued it in the Damier graphite canvas, but that doesn't seem like it will happen. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

Hi! I recently bought the Horizon 55 and traveled in London. The functionality is amazing comparable to my “Away Bigger Carry On”. It’s gorgeous, light and easy to manipulate anywhere you go. It fits most international airplanes over head bins fine, it was very helpful purchasing the horizon 55 cover for an additional price. The cover for the luggage gave me a sense of relief for the bag not to get scratched or damaged. I definitely suggest investing on an authentic LV horizon 55 cover!
